Motorola Moto G6 Surfaces on Geekbench With Snapdragon 625 and Android 8.0 Oreo

While rumours so far have indicated that the Moto G6 will be powered by budget Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, latest benchmark results paint a different picture altogether. As per latest Geekbench listing, the standard Moto G6 will not be powered by weaker Snapdragon 450, but the device it seems will debut with the powerful Snapdragon 625, which powered last year’s Moto G5 Plus and G5S Plus. This seems a great move from Lenovo, especially since Moto G6 series’ closest competitor Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is too powered by Snapdragon 625. The processor will be paired with 3GB of RAM for the base model and 4GB of RAM for the high-end model.

As per the leaked benchmark test results, the Moto G6 scored 709 in single core test and 3582 multi-core test. The device runs Android 8.0 out of the box, and the motherboard is listed as MSM8953. The benchmark also lists octa-core processor with 1.80GHz speed, which is sort of confusing as the Snapdragon 625 SoC comes with a maximum of 2.0 GHz clock speed and the Snapdragon 450 SoC has a 1.8GHz maximum clock speed.

The Moto G6 Plus is expected to ship with an even more powerful Snapdragon 630 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM. The device will also offer 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM variants. As for the G6 Play, the phone is tipped to come with Snapdragon 430 SoC paired with 3GB of RAM and was benchmarked recently.

Previous reports have indicated the price details of the upcoming smartphones. The Moto G6 featuring 5.7-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio is listed for Rs 15000. The Moto G6 Plus sporting a 5.93-inch 18:9 display starts for Rs 17000. Both these devices ship with FHD+ 1080p displays as per numerous reports.

The affordable Moto G6 Play with a 5.7-inch display and 18:9 aspect ratio will start from Rs 12000. All the G series smartphones will run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

As for the cameras, all the devices are expected to ship with 12MP + 5MP dual primary cameras with LED flash. The front camera is said to be a 16MP selfie shooter.

Lastly, the Moto G6 and G6 Plus smartphones come with a design language similar to Moto X4. They feature a glass and metal design with curved rear panels. The fingerprint scanner has been placed up front embedded into the physical home screen button. The Moto G6 Play on the other has a similar glass and metal design, but the fingerprint scanner is placed on the rear panel.
