Motorola is now rolling out the Android 8.1 Oreo update to the Moto X4 Android One edition in the United States. Both the Moto X4 and Moto X4 Android One variants are currently on Android 8.0 Oreo, but with this rollout, the Android One variant goes to the latest version. That said, the Moto X4 standard variant could possibly receive the update in the next couple of weeks. The latest update to the Moto X4 brings April 2018 security patch fixes and has a build number of OPW28.1. The OTA update weighs 992.5MB, and if you're using an Android One Moto X4, the chances are that the update must have reached your phone by now.
So this now leaves the Mi A1 alone as Xiaomi is still working on the 8.1 Oreo update. Already, the Mi A1 Beta users started receiving the beta version of the update, so Xiaomi might release the update with this May 2018 security update in the next couple of weeks.
Other Android One devices such as the Nokia 6, Nokia 5, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco already received the update, which means that the update is a delayed one from both Motorola and Xiaomi. The Xiaomi Mi A1 users are already going crazy on the internet and blaming Xiaomi for not rolling out the update still.
The Android 8.1 Oreo brings a bunch of new changes to the smartphone. The major change included by Google is the notification drawer theme change. The notification drawer colour changes to dark and white based on your wallpaper. Alongside this, the update will also bring a revamped power menu, redesigned Settings app, rounded status bar icons and so on. For the Mi A1, the update seems to be a major one as it's going to add the Project Treble support to the smartphone officially.
