Motorola’s upcoming G series smartphone range - the Moto G6, the Moto G6 Plus and Moto G6 Play are confirmed to sport 18:9 touchscreens as per a new leak. The Lenovo owned brand is preparing to take the wraps off a trio of affordable smartphones at the MWC 2018. Ahead of the launch more information on the G series range has appeared, thanks to benchmark results on HTML5test. The results specifically named the three handsets, revealing the Moto G6 and G6 Plus boast a 2160 x 1080 screen resolution and G6 Play sports 1,440 x 720 resolution.

The screen resolution is interesting part and suggests that all three handsets will feature 18:9 aspect ratio displays. The HTML5test also confirmed that the devices would run latest Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

The taller display hint here matches the leaked images and renders that surfaced online back in January. The Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus and Moto G6 Play come with a near-identical design to last year’s Moto X4 equipped with 3D glass back and 18:9 displays. The fingerprint scanner on two phones is embedded into home button while that on G6 Play is placed on the rear.

The lower end G6 Play with model number XT1922 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430, and launch running Android 8.0 Oreo according to its recent Wi-Fi certification. A leaked render by @Onleaks reveals a glossy back cover and a single camera on the rear, a LED flash and a fingerprint scanner.

The Moto G6 Play is expected to feature a 5.7-inch HD display, and rumours reveal a 4000mAh battery for the devices.

The Moto G6 is tipped feature a 5.7-inch Full HD+ screen, a Snapdragon 450 CPU, paired with 3GB or 4GB RAM along with 32/64GB of internal storage. The device comes with a 12MP + 5MP dual camera setup on the rear and a 16MP front-facing shooter.

Lastly, there’s Moto G6 Plus which will ship with a 5.9-inch Full HD+ (18:9) display, a Snapdragon 630 CPU, 3/4/6GB of RAM, 32/64GB of storage making it a little more powerful than its standard counterpart. As for the cameras, it has same 12MP + 5MP dual combo and a 16MP selfie shooter up front.

Of course, nothing is confirmed so far, and we’ll have to wait till MWC 2018 when Motorola take wraps off its G and E series of smartphones.
