Microsoft Lumia 640 and 640 XL launched in India for Rs. 11,999 and Rs. 15,799

Microsoft seems to be getting pretty aggressive in the budget smartphones segment for India. It has just launched its two latest smartphones, the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL in India for Rs. 11,999 and Rs. 15,799 respectively. The two smartphones were announced at the MWC 2015 and have now reached Indian shores.

The specifications of both the devices are almost the same, but the Lumia 640 XL gets a bigger display (5.7-inches) and a better camera resolution too. The Lumia 640 comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera, along with a 1-megapixel front camera. On the other hand, the Lumia 640 XL sports a 13-megapixel Carl Zeiss optics rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. Both the devices are powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.

As per Microsoft's promise, both the smartphones will soon be upgraded to Windows 10. Both the devices will be available via Flipkart and Microsoft is also offering a 1 year free subscription of Office 365 worth Rs. 3,299 till June 2015. The duo is meant to help Microsoft gain a strong foothold in the mid-level smartphone segment. Microsoft is expected to bring the 4G LTE variants of these devices in India soon. Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL will be available in Black, White, Cyan and Orange colours.
