In its 41st Annual General Meetings of stakeholders, Reliance Jio had announced the second generation of its feature phone, the JioPhone 2. The phone is now all set to go up for flash sale tomorrow, i.e. on August 16. The Flash sale for the new JioPhone 2 will start at 12 PM, and the device will be up for grabs at the price of Rs 2,999. Reliance Jio has drastically changed the design of its new feature phone by giving it a nostalgic QWERTY keypad. Even then the internal specifications and the hardware remain the same as what we got to see for the first generation JioPhone. With this phone, the Mukesh Ambani led telco is chasing the figure of selling 100 million JioPhones in India. However, interest buyers should make note that unlike last time where the JioPhone debuted with an impressive offer, the JioPhone 2 will only be available for Rs 2,999 without any offers or discounts.

JioPhone 2 First Flash Sale on August 16

During the Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries last month, the company revealed the JioPhone 2 would be available post-August 15. Today, the company revealed it would conducting a flash sale of the product on Jio.com on August 16 at 12 PM. In the note which we received, Jio clearly termed the sale as 'Flash Sale,' hinting at the limited availability of the product.

So if you're interested in the JioPhone 2, head over to Jio.com at 12 PM on August 16 to get your hands on the same. Expect some heavy traffic on the website as many users have been waiting for the second-generation JioPhone since the date of the announcement.

JioPhone 2 Tariff Plans

The JioPhone 2 is also eligible for the same tariff plans as the JioPhone. Right now, Jio has three plans for JioPhone users priced at Rs 49, Rs 99 and Rs 153. The Rs 49 plan offers 1GB of 4G data, unlimited voice calls and 50 SMS for the entire validity period of 28 days.

The Rs 99 prepaid plan gives benefits of 0.5GB of 4G data per day, unlimited voice calls and 300 SMS for 28 days. Lastly, the Rs 153 prepaid recharge gives 1.5GB data per day, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day for 28 days.

No Introductory Offers for JioPhone 2

Last year, Reliance Jio introduced the JioPhone at an effective price of Rs 0. The company announced the feature phone for Rs 1,500 but immediately stated that it would be giving the Rs 1,500 to the users back after three years, subject only if the user returns the JioPhone back to the company in a working condition.

However, there's no such offer from the company as a user has to pay Rs 2,999 to get the JioPhone 2.

JioPhone 2 Doesn't Fall Under JioPhone Monsoon Hungama Offer

If any of the customer looking to avail the JioPhone 2 under the JioPhone Monsoon Hungama offer, there's a big disappointment as Jio reiterated that only the first generation JioPhone is eligible for the Monsoon Hungama Offer it introduced last month.

JioPhones Receive Facebook, YouTube and Google Maps

Starting August 15, JioPhone and JioPhone 2 users can head over the KaiOS app store and download Facebook, YouTube and Google Maps for free. Last month, Jio announced the availability of these apps for the JioPhone and JioPhone 2 and on August 15, they'll be available for the users to download.

WhatsApp For KaiOS to be rolled out soon

Jio announced that WhatsApp would be available on the KaiOS app store at a later date. The company did not reveal any reasons behind the delay though. Initially, it was expected that WhatsApp would also be available to download from August 15, but now, there's no timeline for the availability of WhatsApp.
