Reliance Jio Said to Be Offering 50 Mbps Broadband Plan at Rs 2,500: Offer Details and Benefits

Follow Us

Reliance Jio is now offering a new 50 Mbps broadband plan as part of its Jio GigaFiber Preview programme. In several parts of the country where the company is providing a free preview of its upcoming high-speed broadband service, customers are now given option for two plans- one is the good-old Rs 4,500 security deposit plan that ships with 100 Mbps speeds, while the other one is the newer plan with Rs 2,500 security deposit and 50 Mbps speeds. The lower prices mean customers lose out on some benefits which they'll get with the Rs 4,500 plan that has been available until now. For the unaware, Reliance Jio is running a preview offer of its Jio GigaFiber service across the country and the commercial launch of the same is expected to happen at the Reliance Industries Annual General Meeting 2019 later this month.

Reliance Jio GigaFiber Standard Pricing

Now it is very well known that anyone who wants to get a Reliance Jio GigaFiber connection will have to shell out Rs 4,500 upfront to get their hands on the GigaFiber router and thus the connection. However, there is a slight chance that in the past few days, Reliance Jio might have introduced a slightly discounted pricing option for customers who want to try out Reliance Jio GigaFiber. But, like it is the case every time, the Reliance Jio GigaFiber connection has a catch of its own.

Reliance Jio GigaFiber Discounted Pricing

According to a few customers in the testing regions of Reliance Jio GigaFiber, it has been heard that the telco is offering the GigaFiber subscription for Rs 2,500 instead of the usual Rs 4,500. That is a drop of Rs 2,000 from the original cost thus signalling a massive drop for the customers. However, for the subscribers, it is going to mean that the Reliance Jio GigaFiber connection just got very cheap. This is going to reduce the bar for the subscribers to get a new GigaFiber connection and it could also be a step by Reliance Jio to increase the reach of its Preview offer.

GigaFiber Rs 2,500 vs Rs 4,500 Connection

Since we said that the lower price tag also brings some ifs and buts into the connection, users who subscribe to the service by paying Rs 2,500 should note that they would get a lesser speed of up to 50 Mbps instead of 100 Mbps in their connection. The router which is provided to them will also support single band channel establishing a connection at 2.4GHz, instead of the dual-band router which it usually provides. Other perks of the GigaFiber service like the voice services and the JioTV is also available for the subscribers of this Rs 2,500 option of GigaFiber.

These are some of the differences between the standard Rs 4,500 and the Rs 2,500 connection of Reliance Jio GigaFiber. This might very well be a move by the telco to increase the reach of its service, and it could also be the case that the telco is slowly starting to expand its portfolio with two router options for the prospective customers.
