Reliance Jio, the largest telco in India in terms of market share, recently unveiled voice and SMS-only plans. The plan didn't make the consumers too happy, as understandable by witnessing all the backlash online. However, on top of that, TelecomTalk has now confirmed that Jio will not allow data vouchers to work on top of the voice and SMS-only plans. Jio has confirmed this via its social media handle on X.

In response to a query from a user on the platform, JioCare said, "We offer Data-Only Packs (11/19/29/49/175/219/289/359) that provide data with a limited validity. If you wish to use data, you can recharge with any one of these packs. However please note that Data Boosters or Data Add-On packs (69/139) cannot be recharged if you only have a Voice and SMS plan active on your account."
Reliance Jio Voice and SMS Only Plans
There are two voice and SMS only plans offered by Jio right now - Rs 448 and Rs 1748 plans for 84 and 336 days with unlimited voice calling. There are limited amount of SMS benefits bundled as well. However, one drawback of recharging with these plans is that users won't be able to recharge with data packs in case they do need data some day!

What about Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel?
Vodafone Idea has confirmed in a response that users can continue to recharge data vouchers on top of their voice and SMS only plans as both will work together.
As for Bharti Airtel, it is the same like Vodafone Idea. Airtel's voice only plans will allow users to recharge with data vouchers on top. This means only Jio is the sole operator not allowing users to recharge with data vouchers on top of voice and SMS only plans.
