After introducing a host of new changes, now Instagram has come up with a redesign for the explore tab. After pushing the latest revamp to the Explore page on Instagram, the Facebook-owned company seeks to make the tab more organised. Notably, the feature was first mentioned in public by the Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in the Facebook F8 Developer Conference. At the conference held last month, the company revealed that it would introduce many new features to its platforms like AR Camera Effects, app integrations, native video chat or calling functionality, and more. Talking about the new explore tab, Facebook highlighted that it would make the discovery of content much more relevant.

Facebook made it clear that the new Explore tab would make it easier for the people to choose which type of content appears in the Explore feed. The company seeks to do so by the method of Topic Channels. Earlier, the explore tab used to be curated by Instagram based on the users’ interests and engagement patterns. Now with the classification of topic channels, the explore tab is going to offer a new way of organising and finding interesting content. The update, as reported by Facebook will be rolling out to the users in a few weeks.

9to5Mac reported that Instagram has already started pushing the updates to a handful of users. The report highlighted that the new Explore tab very closely resembles the previous one and it follows the same pattern of tile-like curation based on interests of the users. The only addition which is apparent is the one of Topic Channels on the top of the Explore tab.

The newly curated feed will contain topic channels like “Sports, TV and Movies, and more,” the report told. Besides these widely searched topics, the new Explore section will include a “For you” tab which will yet again contain posts by other users based on interests and other factors. This update comes days after the Facebook-owned photo-sharing company launched a feature called IGTV, which enables streaming of vertical videos on the platform of up to one-hour length.
