1. European Firms Struggle to Generate Value from Generative AI, Yet Will Double Spending in 2024

Before we dive into the announcements from January 2024, let's take a moment to highlight a report released by Infosys on December 5, 2023. It forecasts that European companies will increase their investments in Generative AI by 115 percent in 2024, reaching USD 2.8 billion. These investments are based on projections for Year 2024.

However, the report also noted that the pace of investment is slower than in North America, where spending is expected to reach nearly USD 6 billion. This more cautious approach is largely due to concerns surrounding ethics and bias, driven by the more regulated European market. For the Generative AI Radar 2023 – Europe report, the Infosys Knowledge Institute (IKI) surveyed 1,000 respondents from companies across 11 Western European countries (Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom).

Balakrishna D R (Bali), Executive Vice President and Global Head of AI and Industry Vertical at Infosys, said "Generative AI is driving phenomenal transformation across industries, and investment is happening at a rapid pace."

2. Infosys Brings AI-First Technologies to Centre Court for a More Immersive Australian Open 2024 Experience

On January 24, Infosys announced an expansion of its AI footprint at the 2024 Australian Open (AO), introducing generative AI technologies for fan engagement, player performance, and digital content creation.

In its announcement, Infosys stated that it is leveraging its AI-first set of services and solutions, including Infosys Topaz, to enhance the AO experience. Infosys Topaz is providing the large language models and cognitive core necessary to accelerate Tennis Australia's AI journey.

Andrew Groth, Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific, Infosys, said, "This year, we are leveraging Infosys Topaz to bring a host of AI-first experiences to serve players, fans, and the media, and shape the future of the game."

3. APAC Businesses Expected to Nearly Triple Spending on Generative AI to USD 3.4 Billion in 2024

An Infosys research report released on January 27 forecasts that companies across Asia-Pacific (APAC) will rapidly increase investments in generative AI (GenAI), entering a more advanced stage of maturity. Although APAC companies currently lag behind their North American counterparts in GenAI spending, the research predicts the region will see the biggest increase – 140 percent – in the coming year. This translates to an estimated USD 3.4 billion to be invested across Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, India, and Singapore.

Infosys stated that its Generative AI Radar APAC report includes insights from interviews with business leaders and AI practitioners, along with a survey of 1,000 respondents from these six countries.

Andrew Groth, Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific, Infosys, said: "Generative AI is clearly a transformative technology. Although company leaders across APAC have been more cautious than companies in the rest of the world, they are set to outpace firms in other regions. Additionally, they are already delivering more value from their spending on generative AI. To continue to make the most of this technology and to become AI-first organisations, they should focus on talent development and making AI more accessible through a platform ecosystem."

4. Infosys to Power Musgrave's IT Operations with AI and Cloud Solutions
