The mobile subscriber growth is slowing down, as per the TRAI report released today, mobile phone (GSM and CDMA) subscriber base in India continue at a less growth rates compare to previous months.
In the month of July its grew by just 0.78 per cent with addition of 6.67 million new mobile connections taking the total number of wireless users to 858.27 million, according to the report by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
Total Wireless subscriber base increased from 851.70 Million in June 2011 to 858.37 Million at the end of July 2011,However the active wireless subscribers on the date of peak VLR in July- 2011 are 601.73 Million.The overall wireless Tele density in India reaches 71.59.
Largest dual technology telecom operator Tata Teleservices (Tata Indicom/Tata Docomo) has seen negative growth in terms of subscriber acquisition with the lost of 2.67 million mobile subscribers in July. Another GSM operator Videocon also lost 95,010 usersin the month of July.
India's single largest dual technology telecom operator Reliance Communications (Rcom) is leading in terms of new subscriber additions. The operator added 1.52 million (GSM/CDMA) users, taking its mobile subscriber base to 144.78 million by the end of July 2011.
While India's largest mobile service operator Bharti Airtel added 1.51 million GSM subscribers, boosting its subscriber base to 170.69 million. Vodafone Essar notched up 1.49 million new subscribers during the month, taking its total base to 143.01 million.
IDEA Cellular and AIRCEL increased its base by over one million and 0.60 million users respectively, during July,2011.India's National telecom backbone Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) added 1.42 million new GSM subscribers taking it total subscriber base to 95.14 million.
Uninor has added 1.05 million GSM subscriber while MTS India added 5,33,682 CDMA subscribers. S Tel and Etisalat DB / Cheers Mobile manged 1,83,833 and 66019 GSM subscribers during July,2011.
