IGC Boosts Network Capacity with 400G DWDM Upgrade

IGC Boosts Network Capacity with 400G DWDM Upgrade
International Gateway Company Limited (IGC), a subsidiary of ALT Telecom, has selected Nokia's optical transport solution to modernise its existing DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) network. The upgrade, powered by Nokia's Photonic Service Engine (PSE) chipset, will increase the network's capacity to 400G per wavelength, enhancing connectivity between Thailand's East and South regions, from the Cambodian border to Malaysia.

IGC's Modernisation Efforts

According to the official release, Nokia's Data Center Interconnect (DCI) solution will enable IGC to manage rising data demands while providing a high-capacity infrastructure for data centers. The deployment is designed to meet the needs of IGC's hyperscale customers with robust and cost-effective network performance.

Rising Data Demands of Hyperscale Customers

The Chief Executive Officer of IGC said, "Nokia's DWDM solution, based on coherent technology, will help us delight our hyperscale customers by providing superior connectivity from the Cambodian border to the Malaysian border. We are pleased with the timely and seamless completion of the project and look forward to strengthening our partnership and collaboration with Nokia in the future."

The upgrade is intended to address the growing data demands between the East region (bordering Cambodia) and the South region (connected to Malaysia), improving data center connectivity.

International Gateway Company

International Gateway Company Limited (IGC) is a subsidiary of ALT Telecom, a neutral regional telecommunications and network service provider. IGC, established in 2017, provides wholesale bandwidth for both domestic and international traffic via the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), and its nationwide network, known as the GMS network.

This network spans approximately 12,000 km of optical fiber and operates Network-to-Network Interfaces (NNI) for 12 active border crossings, connecting with 42 operators in neighbouring countries and Thailand, with extended connectivity to more than 10 well-known data centers in Thailand, the official release said.
