Idea Cellular has silently revised the Rs 149 tariff plan for its prepaid subscribers across the country. India's third largest telecom operator is providing 1GB of 2G/3G/4G data, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day for 21 days. This offer is available across all the circles in the country, unlike Airtel' segmented offers. Idea prepaid customers can head over to the company's website or MyIdea application to get the recharge done.
In-line with current telecom operators tariff plans, Idea Cellular has quietly revised the entry-level Rs 149 tariff plan, which now offers unlimited voice calls including roaming incoming and outgoing calls, 100 SMS per day and 1GB of data for 21 days. But sadly, the data benefit is just 21 days and not 28 days unlike other operators such as Jio and Airtel.
Also, the voice calling benefit is not unlimited as Idea is claiming. Voice calls are limited to 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week. Idea may start offering unlimited voice calls without any FUP when it rolls out VoLTE in March.
Airtel and Reliance Jio Rs 149 Plans
As stated, incumbent telcos such as Airtel and Reliance Jio have already revised their Rs 149 plans, which is the reason behind Idea's change. Reliance Jio is still leading the tariff plan department as its plan offers 1.5GB data per day, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS per day for 28 days.
On the other hand, Airtel's Rs 149 plan also offers 1GB data per day, 2800 SMS and unlimited voice calls for 28 days for some users. For some users, Airtel is offering similar benefits as Idea's Rs 149 plan, sans the better validity of Airtel's plan.
Idea Cellular might also start offering 1GB data per day with the same Rs 149 plan in the coming days. Vodafone is not yet offering any such benefits with its plans and is far behind from the competition.
