Idea Cellular is Offering Rewards for Reverifying Your Mobile Number With Aadhaar

Telecom operators are trying their best to make customers reverify their mobile numbers with Aadhaar. Idea Cellular has now come up with a unique solution, under which it is rewarding the customers who’re linking their mobile number to Aadhaar as part of Supreme Court’s direction earlier this year.

Idea Cellular is offering a Paytm voucher worth Rs 250 for customers whoever links the mobile number with Aadhaar before November 24. The voucher codes will be sent to the eligible customer before November 29. Customers receiving the code can use the voucher code to book the tickets for the upcoming controversial movie Padmavathi. The movie is expected to be released on December 1.

However, Idea Cellular did not reveal the validity of the Paytm voucher which it will be delivering to the customers. Also, do make a note that the reverification should be done using the biometric verification only. Of course, telecom operators are using only the biometric method to reverify the mobile number. If you do the verification using other methods, you won’t be eligible for the Paytm voucher. A total of Rs 20,000 worth movie vouchers are up for grabs as per Idea Cellular.

The last date for linking your Aadhaar with your mobile number is February 6, 2018. That said, your mobile connection will be disconnected if you won’t reverify within the announced date.

The Indian telecom operators recently received approval from UIDAI for reverifying the mobile numbers using three more methods. Starting December 1, 2017, customers can link their mobile number with Aadhaar using the one-time password (OTP), using IRIS, and App-based. Currently, the only way to link the mobile number is using fingerprint/biometric verification.

The Indian government also ordered telecom operators to specify the last date for reverification of mobile number, instead of sending spam SMS every day. You can link the mobile number by heading over to a nearest Idea Cellular store.

I dont understand how aadhar linking is a privacy issue?. Whether after linking aadhar govt going to record ur calls.. Govt if wants to track ur movement n tap ur calls can do it even now. So stop saying privacy privacy everytime. Didnt u provide ur voter id etc at time of connection.. y didnt u say abt privacy at that time. Remember one thing, nothing is more important(even ur privacy) than nations security n integrity.

Off topic, Vodafone 4G works on Band 1. They don’t have more then 10mhz mostly and even it is shared with 3G. So did their 4G works on 5mhz only with max 37 Mbps speed?

In rajasthan Vodafone uses band 1 and idea band 3. In SriGanganagar airtel is having worst 3g & 4g coverage. Jio is best except some area but better than all in coverage and speed

Please note: Linking with Aadhar was not Supreme Court decision. It was the current government’s decision. Supreme court only asked for KYC verification. Operators are not linking Aadhaar for post-paid customers. They are only doing it for pre-paid ones.

There is *no way* I’m getting Aadhar number or linking it to anything.

Well bud, it’s not upto you. Regulation which we all follow is made by the government and enforced by the agencies. If you want to use a mobile, you’ll have to link it with AADHAAR, either yours or your family member and so will be the sim. Its not a choice.

Aadhaar is a good move and should be welcomed. Only concern is privacy and it should not be overlooked.

@stephen Government is elected by us and therefore works for us, not the other way around. Linking is a choice – at least until the Supreme court announces it’s verdict on Aadhar linking Vs Right to Privacy.

Ofcourse they’re elected by us, but you and I, we all know how this goes. We don’t have right to recall or referendum on major issues. If the gov want it, they’ll pass it, already have in this case. Supreme Court should not interfere with government regulations, as far as privacy concerns, they should instruct for better control and assurance.

I had to link my postpaid number to aadhar. Yes, earlier, due to non NMNP, we had to buy sim and change our numbers quite often, but now it is very painful to throw all 98/94 series mobile number.
