Idea Cellular has partnered with struggling Japanese smartphone brand, Sony Electronics to offer bundled 4G data offers for customers purchasing the recently announced mid-range smartphones- Sony Xperia R1 and R1 Plus. Late last month, Sony announced two mid-range devices, the R1 and R1 Plus. The former is priced at Rs. 12,990, whereas the latter costs Rs. 14,990. Both the devices will be up for sale starting November 10.

Under the Idea-Sony partnership, customers whoever purchasing the R1 or R1 Plus smartphones will get additional 4G data per month. Under the special offer, Idea prepaid customers will get an additional 10GB data with every recharge of Rs. 300 and above for first six recharges. So, this makes up for 60GB additional data during the offer period.

So, if you recharge with Idea Cellular's Rs. 357 plan after purchasing the Sony Xperia R1 or R1 Plus, you will get the Rs. 357 tariff plan benefits of 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS for 28 days. Alongside the usual plan benefits, Idea Cellular will credit additional 10GB data under the newly announced offer. Having said that, there won't any daily limit to use the 10GB data though.

Speaking on this, Mr Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular, said, “Idea has consistently invested in building a strong 4G network across the country to drive data penetration. Availability of good quality devices at affordable price points will further catalyse uptake of 4G in India. We are happy to partner with Sony India for enabling superior 4G experience for our customers, through this bundled offer giving 60 GB data on the new Sony Xperia R1 Plus and R1 smartphones.”

Commenting on the partnership, Mr Vijay Singh Jaswal, Head of Mobile and Audio business, Sony India said, “We want our Sony Xperia R1 Plus and R1 smartphone customers to fully enjoy the product offering, such as 4G and this partnership with Idea seems to be a perfect fit. This will enable our customers to have a seamless data and surfing experience on our recently launched smartphones, adding value to their smartphone usage experience.”

Currently, Sony India is taking the pre-registration for both the smartphones, and they will be up for sale on November 10 on Flipkart, Amazon, and Sonys retail offline partners.
