HTC had recently announced that it will be updating One M8 and M7 with Android 5.0 Lollipop update within 90 days of receiving the final software from Google. The company said that it has received the source code from Google today. This piece of news came from the companies official Twitter handle. A quick math will reveal that both the One M8 and the M7 will be getting the Android Lollipop update by February next year. HTC will have to fine tune the Sense UI so that it can blend with the Android L. HTC has come up with a swifter software update cycle process called “HTC Advantage” which is similar to the Motorola promise.

Manufacturers are taking the update process a tad too seriously as consumers are inclined to make a decision in favor of a device that already has the latest Android update out of the box. HTC's premium lineup, which includes HTC One (Dual SIM), HTC Desire Eye, HTC One E8, HTC Butterfly 2, and other devices are set to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the first quarter of 2015.

The interesting part is that HTC has included most of its mid-range and high-end devices for the Android 5.0 update instead of just updating the flagships. The Desire 816 and the One Mini 2 are expected to receive the Android Lollipop update somewhere between March and May the next year. HTC will not bundle the Sense 7 with the Android L and instead stick to the Sense 6.
