Honor 9X to Debut in India by the End of 2019, Company Confirms

Honor 9X will reach the Indian market by the end of this year, the Chinese company has officially confirmed. The 9X was launched in China a few months ago, but the company has been silent regarding the phone's launch in global markets, due to the ongoing issues with Google right now. However, Honor confirmed that the 9X would arrive with Android and Google services. Notably, the Honor 9X series made its debut right before the ban imposed by the US government, which is the reason why it has all the Google app services. Now, we're not sure why Honor delayed the global launch of the 9X, but it's to India by the end of 2019.

Honor 9X India Launch: What You Need to Know

Back in June this year, Honor launched three new smartphones in the Honor 20 series. Since then, the company did not announce a single smartphone in the Indian market. Honor's name is slowly fading away in the country as Realme is making major inroads into the market with its cutthroat pricing and decent products. To recall, Honor was on the rise in India last year as it became the fastest growing online brand. But Realme's entry into the Indian market has dented the growth of Honor and the US ban worsened things even more.

"We are going to launch Honor 9X by the end of this year in India. It will be on Android," Charles Peng, President, Honor India, confirmed to PTI. The Honor 9X series has two smartphones- Honor 9X and the Honor 9X Pro, but we may not see the latter making its way to the Indian market like last year.

Honor 9X: Specifications and Features

The Honor 9X is a mid-range smartphone and it will take on the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro and Realme 5 Pro. The phone sports a 6.59-inch Full HD+ display on the front, coupled with a resolution of 1080x2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Underneath, the phone has the latest HiSilicon Kirin 810 chipset which is said to deliver better performance than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G and MediaTek Helio G90T chipsets. The phone comes in multiple storage variants with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. With almost all the brands now offering 8GB of RAM under Rs 20,000, we may see the same happening with Honor 9X as well.

As for the rear cameras, the Honor 9X has a 48MP primary shooter on the back, paired with 2MP depth sensor. On the front side, users get a pop-up selfie camera of 16MP with f/2.2 aperture. Connectivity options on the handset include Dual 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS. The Honor 9X has a UBS Type-C port, unlike the Honor 8X which shipped with a Micro USB port.

The fingerprint scanner on the Honor 9X is placed to the right side; We're not sure why Honor made this move, but probably the company wants to reduce the price of the handset by not choosing an AMOLED display. Lastly, there's a 4000mAh battery and the phone offers just 10W charging support.

Honor 9X: Expected Pricing in India

The Honor 8X was launched in India at a starting price of Rs 14,999 and we may see the Honor 9X retailing around the same price. The Honor 9X features decent specs for a mid-range smartphone and the Kirin 810 SoC is capable of taking on the competition this time around. What's your expected price for the Honor 9X?
