Recently, it was said that Google has set October 5 as the launch date for Google Pixel 2 smartphones, exactly a year later after debuting the first generation Pixel phones. There are a countless number of leaks and rumours about the Pixel 2 series, claiming that the smaller Pixel will be manufactured by HTC and the larger Pixel by South Korean giant LG.

Last year’s Pixel and Pixel XL were manufactured by HTC, but this year, it’s going to be two different manufacturers. And yes, HTC and LG will differentiate both devices by a huge margin. Here’s the insane difference: the LG made Pixel 2 XL is said to have a bezel-less display, whereas the HTC-made Pixel 2 will sport the same old design as the Google Pixel

Coming to the display size, the Pixel 2 XL will likely get a 5.99-inch 1440p OLED display with slim bezels all around. On the other hand, the Pixel 2 will have a 4.97-inch 1080p display with noticeable large bezels on top and bottom.

Hardware wise, Evan Blass claims that the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will be powered by the unannounced Snapdragon 836 chipset, which will be a slightly upgraded version of the Snapdragon 835 SoC. Furthermore, the upcoming Pixel phones will be the first ones to make use of the unannounced Snapdragon 836 chipset.

Like last year’s Pixel phones, this year’s Pixel phones will feature 4GB of RAM and may come in a 256GB storage variant as well. Another noticeable feature which is buzzing on the internet is the omission of 3.5mm headphone jack in Pixel 2 phones. Yes, Google is looking to ditch the headphone jack to match the ongoing trend in the market.

Besides, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL said to feature a single camera at the back, and there won’t be major changes to the camera setup as well. The Google Pixel and Pixel XL still has the best camera in the industry.

Some other key features in the upcoming Pixel smartphones is the presence of dual front-facing speakers, edge sensor like the HTC U11, and an upgraded Always-on display. The prices of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are said to be on the steeper side.
