Search giant Google today revealed that it sold one Google Home device every second since the launch Google Home Mini on October 19, 2017. Going by this, Google sold over 6.5 million Google Home devices. Google currently has three Home products- Google Home, Google Home Mini, and the Google Home Max. The Home Max started shipping to consumers in December 2017, so it may not account for the sales. However, the Google Home Mini which is priced at just $49 in the US must have sold in millions. It was up for sale at just $29 during sale days in early December.

Google stated this news in a blog post. In the same post, the company revealed that Google Assistant is "now available on more than 400 million devices, including speakers like Google Home, Android phones and tablets, iPhones, headphones, TVs, watches and more." That's not a small number by any means. The Google Assistant is currently for smartphones running Android 5.0 Lollipop and above smartphones, iOS devices, and also for Android 7.0 Nougat tablet devices.

Furthermore, building up the anticipation, Google said that they would be revealing more features and future of Google Assistant in 2018 at the CES 2018. We're expecting the company to introduce more features for the US market. In India though, we get limited features, and it's also disappointing that the company is yet to announce a Google Home product in the Indian market.

In the US though, the company is adding more and more features to the Google Assistant. Recently, Google added features such as Voice Match, Broadcast and Hands-Free Calling to the Google Assistant for Home devices. Also, users can remotely control smart devices. It is also revealed that there are more than 1,500 compatible smart home devices from over 225 brands at the moment.

Apart from this, the Google Assistant for Home has some more features such as reminders, asking to play/pause music, etc. Recently, it was reported Google is selling the Home Mini in losses as the overall cost of making a single Home Mini is more than $35. But during the holiday sale, the Home Mini was sold at just $29, which must have increased the sales.

It is still unknown on when Google is planning to launch these Google Home smart speakers in India. Google's direct rival, Amazon already brought its Alexa powered voice-enabled speakers to the Indian market.
