November 11, known as the Double 11 (11.11) in China is a big day for e-commerce and several smartphone manufacturers have been quietly working on their new devices to introduce ahead of the deal day. Xiaomi seems to be leading this race by paving the way for three of its brand new models scheduled for 11.11, believing that a timely launch would see it reach the 100 million milestone in terms of shipment this year.
We have seen many a rumour surrounding Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5 Plus devices in the past few weeks and looks like the stream of leaks hasn’t seen its end yet. Today, a bunch of real-life images of the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus has surfaced online.
It is expected that the Redmi 5 Plus will be the first of the three new devices to be introduced ahead of the 11.11 deal day. Going by the leaks and rumours so far, the Redmi 5 Plus might be a promising phone with its unique design aspect. The Redmi 5 Plus is expected to be the first budget smartphone to come with the full-screen design featuring an 18:9 aspect ratio display with ultra-thin bezels on all four sides. Given the high screen-to-body ratio, it will come as no surprise that the fingerprint sensor/capacitive home button is absent on the front.
Although the rear part of the Redmi 5 Plus resembles the design of last year’s Redmi Pro, its dual camera setup is packed vertically. Below the camera sits the LED flash followed by the fingerprint sensor. Tipped to feature a 5.99-inch display with 2160 x 1080 pixels (Full-HD+) resolution, the device in itself might be bigger in size.
When it comes to the core of the handset, the Redmi 5 Plus is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. However, there are other rumours suggesting that the device will ship with a Snapdragon 450 processor instead and it is fairly justified given that the phone falls under the budget segment. The device will most likely come in two RAM variant – 3GB and 4GB – and the dual rear cameras are said to be a 12MP + 5MP combination.
The basic version of the Redmi 5 Plus is expected to be priced at 799 Yuan (around Rs. 7,800). All these are, however, just speculations and you should take it with a grain of salt.
