Dish TV DishSMRT Wi-Fi Dongle Will Allow Subscribers to Watch OTT Content on Their TV for Rs 599

With a growing divide between the OTT applications and the DTH subscriptions, the providers do not want to lose on their market share to these apps. As a counter, these providers have started coming up with methods to avail the OTT apps on the TV screen. The most popular device for this seems to the Amazon Fire TV Stick. However, if you are Dish TV subscriber, then you have one other option as well and that is the DishSMRT Wi-Fi Dongle. Through this Wi-Fi Dongle and by plugging it into their set-top box, subscribers of Dish TV will be able to access apps with video on demand content on their TV screens.

DishSMRT Subscription Details

The DishSMRT is a Wi-Fi USB Dongle which will provide subscribers with the OTT apps and will avail the massive library of online curated content, TV shows and Web-series. Interested users should note that the DishSMRT Wi-Fi Dongle will connect with DishNXT HD Set-Top Box only. The users will have to plug the device into their DishNXT HD set-top box to available Wi-Fi network or mobile hotspot via the DishSMRT Stick, which will be plugged into the STB’s USB port. This way, the viewers will be able to access online popular video content, alongside the Live TV channels on their big screen. Users will also be able to play games on the screen and will have the benefit of controlling the entire operations by a universal remote.

DishSMRT Wi-Fi Dongle Price and Installation Details

As for pricing, Dish TV has revealed that the DishSMRT Stick will be available with a price tag of Rs 599. To buy one, the users will need to visit the dedicated DishSMRT webpage on the official DishTV website and enter their details like viewing card number or the registered mobile number after which DishTV will contact the subscribers, and an installation team will pay them a visit. It is also worth noting that the DishSMRT Stick will avail a free preview of 6 months for the Rs 599 price tag and there will be no installation charges. The dongle will also come with a six month warranty period as well, and it will be compatible only with the DishNXT HD set-top box.

Further, to enable the subscribers to enjoy the content without any interruptions, DishTV has recommended that users should be on an internet connection with a minimum of 1 Mbps speed to ensure proper streaming. However, there is also the catch of selected streaming services available on the DishSMRT Stick. Currently, the device offers access to services like Hungama Play, Zee5, SonyLiv, VOOT and ALT Balaji. Some of the big names like Netflix and Amazon Prime remain currently missing now. Another crucial thing to note is that the DishSMRT Stick will be available in select cities only for which DishTV has issued a list of cities where the service will be provided to the consumers upon registration.
