Airtel has realigned it's band 40 spectrum. Instead of pair of 20 and 10 mhz, they have decided into 15 and 15 mhz and then both are CARRIER AGGREGATED. This insures spectrum efficacy and better speeds if handset is not ca enabled...

Jio sahab pls wake up and do this. It's urgent

The faster they get along with it, the better it will be for Jio. I bought a 6z, and in most areas in and around Mapusa, I get 3+5, and 40+40. Haven't been able to aquire 3+40 as well as 5+40 or even 3CA, 3+5+40 yet. The tower that's closest to my place doesn't have carrier aggregation, and it's housed on top of a BSNL exchange.

The good thing is, I'm now getting 64QAM on uploads, and the upload speeds have increased dramatically. The highest I hit was 8Mbps upload speed which was amazing. Can't wait for the auctions. Hopefully they'll be here by August.

Just disappointed with the 5G auctions though. If it's auctioned by 2021, and if the govt reduces the rate of the 3.5GHz band to a quarter of what it is right now, there'll be fierce competition between all operators. Hopefully the govt will allot some of it to BSNL so that they can compete with cheap tariffs and match Jio. Let's hope the govt doesn't delay the auctions post 2021 as India is already missing the 5G bus and will need to get the next one as soon as possible.. It's high time that congestion is a thing of the past. I wonder if VIL will take part in the auctions. They surely got some good revenue this pre COVID-19 pandemic. Only time will tell if they participate.

The wait from 2017 to 2020 feels like... 84 years.gif (You'll know if they deleted it)

I'm hoping Jio gets full 40MHz in band 40. That extra 10MHz is the need of the hour. Hopefully they could get more of it. I wonder how much they'll add for bands 3 and 5 in MH&GA circle.

@kiran still jio is doing well even without CA for me. While airtel still operates on 2x2 MIMO in my area

That's nice. Here in Goa, the sites are mostly congested, so I barely hit 20Mbps. uploads don't go above 4Mbps. I think most of the sites here are using microwave backhaul.

Airtel won't get anything in band 40,they will just focus on band 3/5/8/28. So Jio will be able to get 50/60Mhz in few circles.

Actually its worth when considering Spectrum efficiency.

But as we know its airtel secret to Advt as Priority network via postpaid plan which they will sell to those who uses high end phones ( CA enabled ofcource) Which definitely very common in 2020 .

Again New report says Airtel is hungrey for Sub-Ghz spectrum all india level, escpeially in haryana, kerala and UP west, and all thos circle where some chunk of 800Mhz from tata is just lying unsed.

Thus reconfiguring airtel makes more sense, with sub-Ghz spectrum for voice and higher for data and Carrier aggregation for super highly cost postpaid plan.

JIO is own team may not do 15+15, instead add 10mhz in band 40, and 5 mhz in band 5.

Nikhil, yes jio seems to be planning to gallop another few pair of band 40 in upcoming auctions as they have not realigned their band 40 spectrum like Airtel. Jio will also buy band 5 spectrum to protect its investment in band 5 radio on BTS. But Airtel it seems will focus on any of the sub GHz band it gets cheap during auction.

TN has 40Mhz band 41 it will be nice if jio or airtel buys it and deploy.
