Govt May Ask Airtel, Vodafone Idea to Stop Using Huawei, ZTE Telecom Gear
India may ask private telecom operators like Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea to discontinue their engagements with Chinese telecom equipment makers like Huawei and ZTE, having already made up its mind to to block ZTE's participation in BSNL's upcoming 4G…
Good thing, but is Airtel/VIL is in good position to deploy Nokia/Ericsson gears and 4G expansion. Airtel though seemed better on paper, is not even good enough to buy good amount of spectrum. They are looking for FDI. So things are not as good as it seems.
Good step. Should have been taken earlier. China has crossed all the limits. Now anyone using or promoting Chinese brands has the blood of our soldiers on their hands.
"Huawei works with Vodafone Idea in even circles, while ZTE works in five circles." - even cirlcles or eleven circles ?
We don't want any chinese gear maker. We can afford a delay in 5G but not security. From long term perspective, its better get late than data stealing
@telecomnerd Where was your phone made? How much blood do you have on your hand?
I understand 80% of the parts of products are manufactured in China but we can at least purchase products that are not sold by Chinese companies. Let us begin from here gradually - it'll take time considering our wallet constraints but its not difficult.
Ikr. The only solution is to make the import taxes 10 times more for anything manufactured in China and let the Indians who defend china pay for the deaths of Indian soldiers.
