The new version of the iOS is getting a handful of upgrades. Apple claimed that it is the biggest release of iPhone software, ever. Let us give you a heads up about the latest iOS 10.

A cool new Lockscreen

The lock screen has got a complete overhaul on the iOS 10. It has become a lot more interactive with live status updates from third-party apps like Uber. The 3D Touch will now come in more handy for clearing notifications and to add new shortcuts for apps like camera and music. The home screen has also received a makeover with drop-down Today widget panel as the 3D touch now offers more info for apps such as ESPN, and much others.

You can now get rid of unwanted built-in apps

Except for default apps such as Photos, Game Center, Messages, and Camera, users can now delete other built-in apps. Check the image below to know about all the removable apps.

Developers now have access to Siri

It means that Siri will now be able to function with the third-party apps as well. Users commands can now include actions for third-party apps as well. For example - “Tell Fred I’ll be five minutes late with WhatsApp,” and Siri will send the message on WhatsApp to the mentioned contact. Also, Siri will now book your Uber rides as well. But, this feature will become flawless with app makers doing better with the coding. Looks like Apple is trying everything to give tough competition to Google, as with the iOS 10, Siri becomes pretty much like Google Now.

Quick Typing made easy

Apple is trying to make your typing experience error-free with its Quick Type keyboard. For example - If somebody asks for your e-mail ID then Siri can perform a quick check in the background and suggest your e-mail in the Quick Type suggestion. This function can make your work way easier. Also, it will keep track of user's availability via Calendar and frequently/recently searched locations.

Photos gear up to rival Google Photos

Following Google Photos, Apple has performed AI and image recognition tech into its photos application. The app can now organize images for object recognition search, tagging trips in your camera roll and creating a short collection.

Apple Maps with third-party integrations

Just like its other default apps, Apple has integrated its Maps service with third-party apps as well. Through Apple Maps, users can now book a ride with Uber, make payment via Apple Pay, without the need to close the Maps app. However, this will also largely depend on third-party apps and how well they're able to integrate with Apple Maps.

Apple Music gets new design and features

After receiving a lot of criticism for its confusing design, Apple has made substantial changes to its Music app's interface. The app has got a redesign and is now color coded mostly black, white, and pink. There are also new sections on the app, such as “Recently Added,” for quick access to the latest songs on the app. The "For You" section is also tweaked with a variety of new features with better songs curation.

Apple News app becomes bearable

Apple News never made it big in terms of reader base and maybe that's why the company has made changes to the app in iOS 10. The app looks much better now and is also equipped with subscription support along with "Breaking News" notifications.

HomeKit now has an app 'Home'

Apple seems to be thinking seriously about controlling everything via its HomeKit app. In iOS 10, the HomeKit app now controls Internet of Things such as CCTV camera at Home, Internet connection, TVs and much more. It is focused on automating our Homes.

iOS 10 can now identify spam callers

The new iOS can also detect a spam call through voicemail transcription standard. Even the contact cards on the device get a makeover with enhanced control over finding contacts faster.

iMessage becomes cute with new emoticons

The emojis on iMessage has become 3X bigger, which makes it better to use. Also, whenever a user shares a link, the iMessage also shows videos and files that the link carries. Users can also change the font size of the text. In addition, users can also play music/videos within the app. Another awesome addition to iMessage is “invisible ink" which blurs your message unless the effect is swiped by the user, it can keep your texts private.

To conclude, the new iOS 10 update is expected to reach users sometime in September. Meanwhile, check the list below to know if your iOS device is compatible to get the update.
