Chrome 94 Update Details

The Chrome 94 update was announced via blog post. It introduces HTTPS-First mode, which is touted to be the most secure version of HTTP, and several websites support this feature. The latest update will show a full-page warning when users load a website missing HTTPS support. This makes sure there is privacy when using public Wi-Fi as well. Google claims that it was previously planned to be rolled out with Chrome 92.

Also, Chrome 94 lets Android tablets host desktop websites. It will let inactive tab groups be frozen, show a refreshed UI on Android, automatically start Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), show updated table renders on webpages, and much more. Besides the new features, the desktop gets 32 bug fixes and improvements.

The other notable aspect of the desktop version of the browser is the sharing hub. To explain this, the feature lets users copy links, share to third-party websites and get a QR code. The option to Send to devices is available only to signed-in users. Chrome’s sharing hub can be accessed via either an omnibox icon or the menu with three dots. Chrome for Windows, Linux and Mac will support the desktop sharing hub.

On iOS, there is a feature to easily manage tabs. It lets users select multiple tabs and add them to the bookmarked, reading list, closed or shared. The iOS version also supports downloading and opening .mobileconfig files. Such files can be used to configure iOS devices to function with certain enterprise systems. Users can manually install the profile from the Settings app. Also, it brings improvements to the existing onboard screens on iOS.
