BSNL Makes New Addition to Its List of Economical Broadband Plans With 20 Mbps Speed and 200GB FUP

BSNL has introduced a new affordable broadband plan to the residents in Kerala circle. Kerala, being one of the largest circle for BSNL has made the telco launch this broadband plan exclusively. The new plan in question is the Rs 995 plan, dubbed as BSNL FIBRO BBG ULD 995 CS287 in the circle. This plan from BSNL doesn’t compete with the high-speed plans from private Internet Service Providers such as ACT Fibernet or Bharti Airtel because it offers just 20 Mbps download+upload speeds, until 200GB. That being said, it’s a promotional plan from BSNL and is valid for a period of 90 days from the date of introduction. BSNL is also offering an after FUP speed of 2 Mbps with this broadband plan.

BSNL-Economic-Broadband Plans

Before jumping into the benefits offered by the BSNL BBG ULD 995 CS287 broadband plan, make a note that this plan is applicable only to all the users of Ernakulam SSA of Kerala Circle. Unfortunately, it’s not available in any other city of Kerala state. Moving onto the benefits, the Rs 995 broadband plan gives 20 Mbps broadband connection and offers a FUP of 200GB. Post the FUP, users will be able to browse at 2 Mbps, which is underwhelming. BSNL would have at least offered 5 Mbps of after FUP speed.

The highlight of this plan is the FUP benefit it offers. Normally, BSNL doesn’t offer FUP of 200GB with its broadband plans, but this plan is aimed at solving the issue. Additionally, the plan subscribers will also receive a free email ID with 1GB of space. And yes, this plan doesn’t offer any voice calling benefits, meaning you’ve to either subscribe to a landline plan or use the plan without any voice calling benefits.

Another thing worth noting is the telco will charge an installation amount of Rs 500 and a minimum hire period of one month applies to every new user. Existing users can also migrate to this plan. Lastly, BSNL is offering the BSNL BBG ULD 995 CS287 broadband on a long-term basis. Users can avail the plan for one year at Rs 10,945, two years at Rs 20,898 and for three years at Rs 29,850.

Chennai plans are even best compare to kerala plan. The least plan is BBG Combo ULD 699 CS243 for 20 Mbps till 700 GB and previously it was 10 Mbps till 60 GB. I’m using BBG Combo ULD 1091 CS246 for 20Mbps till 1000 GB before it was 10 Mbps till 300 GB. But I’m not getting the full speed of 20 Mbps just 11.35 Mbps max, have to call customer service. Now I’m thinking about change my plan to ULD 699 because i dont even cross 200GB.

Good thing it’s a FTTH plan. For non-FTTH 20 Mbps plans, though launched on pan India basis, I seriously doubt anyone gets 20 Mbps speed. My local exchange flatly refused to provide any of the FOUR newly launched promo plans @20 Mbps speeds citing reasons that it’s not possible to provide speeds higher than 10 Mbps on copper lines without frequent disconnection problems. What good are these plans then? Why would anyone opt for these plans with daily FUP limits if the speeds cannot exceed more than 10 Mbps? BB249 plan provides 8 Mbps speed and with Happy Browsing it’s… Read more »
