Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has reported 2.17 lakh new connections in the month of July in Andhra Pradesh. With these new activations, the total number of connections has reached 40 lakhs, according to a report which BSNL Andhra Pradesh shared on platform X (formerly Twitter). This new addition of numbers comes on the back of private telecom operators revising the tariffs in July 2024. TelecomTalk reported the milestone of BSNL AP reaching 1 lakh SIM activations in 23 days in the last week of July.

BSNL 4G Services Launch
BSNL will soon launch 4G services in major cities of Andhra Pradesh from August 15. According to the report, as 4G technology services become available from BSNL, users are also showing interest in getting new mobile connections (SIM cards) from BSNL. BSNL is also running special camps where users can switch their SIM cards from 2G to 4G.

Network Expansion in Tribal and Remote Areas
Reportedly, BSNL 4G services will be activated across the state by the end of September as antennas, base transceiver stations (BTS), and core network works are currently in various stages. BSNL AP is also expanding its network to remote tribal areas with 1,200 new towers being set up in villages.
The report cited officials saying that BSNL services will be available in the villages of Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, East Godavari, Kurnool, and other districts by the end of the month.

Popular Recharge Plan Among New Users
Among the new activations, 90 percent of users are preferring the Rs 249 recharge plan, which offers a validity of 45 days and includes 2GB data per day along with unlimited calls and 100 SMS per day, the report said. So, BSNL AP users can expect 4G services across the state by the end of September if the network has been deployed in their area and they have a compatible 4G SIM and handset.
