BSNL Aims at Voice Calling Users With the All-New Rs 39 Prepaid Plan

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited today announced a new prepaid tariff plan of Rs 39 on a pan-India basis. This new Rs 39 plan is aimed at avid voice calling users and comes with a validity of ten days. This STV 39 is introduced to compete with JioPhone’s Rs 49 plan which took the entire telecom industry by storm. The new prepaid voice calling Rs 39 plan gives the user unlimited voice calls without any limit to any network in the country, except for Mumbai and Delhi users, 100 SMS for the entire validity period and free caller tune, which also comes with a validity of ten days. This plan is already effective in all the circles where BSNL has its operations and can be recharged via the company’s portal or through any recharge portal.

Shri R.K.Mittal, Director (CM) BSNL Board informed this special Tariff Voucher (STV) is only for voice with a validity of 10 days catering to the specific requirement of our esteemed subscribers. BSNL usually doesn’t provide SMS benefits with its voice calling STVs, but the telco for the first time started offering SMS benefit too.

Alongside the newly launched STV 39, BSNL also has a couple of other dedicated voice calling plans of Rs 99 and Rs 319. The STV 99 offers unlimited voice calls to any network across the country (excluding Mumbai and Delhi) for 26 days along with free PRBT. The STV 319 offers unlimited voice calls without any SMS or PRBT benefit for 90 days.

The STV 39 plan is the best voice calling plan, but on the other hand, Reliance Jio is offering a month-free of voice calls and 1GB of 4G data for JioPhone users at just Rs 49. But that’s valid only for JioPhone users and not for the standard 4G smartphone users, but BSNL’s STV 39 is valid for all its prepaid subscribers irrespective of which device they’re asking.

For users who want a voice calling plan valid for Mumbai and Delhi numbers, BSNL has a separate STV 45, which provides free voice calls to mobile numbers in Mumbai and Delhi circles. However, the STV 45 is valid only with the unlimited combo plans of Rs 186, Rs 484 and Rs 666 across the country.

BSNL must revamp its entire set of plans. There are so many plans that are just stupid and confusing. And instead of offering PRBT which hardly anyone uses, BSNL should’ve offered increased validity plans. And why 26 days? They must offer it for 28 days.
