Bharti Airtel’s Rs 399 Prepaid Plan Now Gives Benefits for 84 Days, In-Line With Jio’s Plan

Bharti Airtel has yet again countered Reliance Jio with the Rs 399 plan. The telco has now revised the popular Rs 399 plan to offer benefits for 84 days from the date of recharge. For the unaware, Airtel's Rs 399 tariff plan now offers 1GB data per day, 100 SMS per day, and unlimited voice calls for 84 days, up from the earlier 70 days validity period. Airtel has made this change in some circles, and the offer, for now, is a segmented one, meaning only select customers will be eligible for the revised Rs 399 plan.

However, we're expecting Airtel to roll out the same plan for all the customers in the next couple of days. Yesterday, we reported about Airtel's Rs 149 tariff plan which now gives unlimited voice calls (roaming calls too), 100 SMS per day, and 1GB 3G/4G data for 28 days. In that article, we mentioned only two Airtel prepaid numbers were eligible for the offer, but today, the same Rs 149 plan is rolled out to more prepaid customers in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana circle. The Rs 149 plan is also rolled out to Karnataka circle.

At the moment, we can confirm that the revised Rs 399 plan is not applicable to users in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana and Karnataka circle. Some users with Airtel prepaid connection in Delhi have received this offer.

Matching Reliance Jio in terms of tariff plans is a massive task for telcos, especially the established telcos such as Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea Cellular. But Airtel is challenging Reliance Jio with ease. This Rs 399 plan change puts Airtel equal with Jio.

Reliance Jio's revised Rs 399 plan also gives 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS per day for 84 days from the date of recharge. What still gives an advantage to Jio is its plans are open market ones, and any Jio prepaid customer can recharge the plan. Hopefully, Airtel also makes the new Rs 399 plan an open market one.
