Bharti Airtel is known for making some bold moves in the industry and in the latest move, the telco has revised the Rs 149 and Rs 399 prepaid plans yet again. Airtel rolls back the data benefit of the two prepaid plans to 1GB data per day and 1.4GB data benefit per day for 28 days and 70/84 days respectively. Last month, the company offered 2GB data per day with the Rs 149 plan for select users, while at the same time, the Rs 399 prepaid plan gave some users 2.4GB data benefit per day. Spotting Airtel's aggressive data offering, Jio introduced a Double Dhamaka offer to provide additional 1.5GB data benefit for every user on every prepaid recharge plan starting from Rs 149. Jio's offer ended on June 30, 2018, as the company did not extend the Double Dhamaka offer.

On the whole, the Rs 149 prepaid plan from Airtel now offers 1GB data per day which makes it 28GB data benefit for the validity period, unlimited voice calls without any FUP limit and 100 SMS per day for a period of 28 days. On the other hand, the Rs 399 plan is currently giving 1.4GB data per day, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day for 84 days. The Rs 399 plan is valid for 84 days for some users and for some, it’s valid for 70 days. Users can check the validity of the plan by heading over to My Airtel app or Airtel website.

This is an interesting move from the Airtel as every operator in the industry is going after offering more data. When Airtel made this move earlier this month, Jio countered the move by introducing a Double Dhamaka offer by providing 1.5GB additional daily data with its prepaid plans. Jio’s Double Dhamaka offer already expired on June 30, but most of the consumers were benefitted from the new entrant's double data offer though.

Not only in the prepaid segment, Airtel is also making strong statements in the postpaid segment by revising its postpaid plans. Airtel revised the Rs 499, Rs 649, Rs 799 and Rs 1,199 postpaid plans earlier this month. Airtel revised its Rs 649 prepaid plan with 90% more data offering. Airtel’s Rs 649 postpaid plan now gives a user 90GB of data for one month along with other benefits such as one add-on connection, unlimited voice calls even on roaming, 100 SMS per day, free subscriptions to Airtel Secure, Airtel TV, Wynk Music and one year of Amazon Prime. The Rs 499 myPlan Infinity Postpaid plan now offers a whopping 75GB data benefit along with the usual data rollover facility up to 500GB.
