Bharti Airtel Heats Up Postpaid War With an Increase of Data Benefit by 85%

Bharti Airtel has intensified the postpaid war by revising the postpaid plan of Rs 649. Airtel's revised Rs 649 offers a whopping 90GB of data, which is 85% increase compared to the previous benefit of 50GB. Airtel introduced the Rs 649 postpaid plan last year, but quickly, it was killed due to some unknown reasons. Later on, the plan was reintroduced at the start of April 2018 with improved benefits and free add-on connection. The same plan is again revised to offer better benefits than the past and to compete with Vodafone. Notably, Vodafone doesn't have a Rs 649 plan. Airtel is also providing free add-on connection with this plan, so the Rs 649 rental will be valid for two Airtel postpaid connections and not one. This is one of the best offerings from Airtel until now.

On the whole, the Rs 649 postpaid plan from Airtel now offers 90GB of data with data rollover option, unlimited voice calls even on roaming, 100 SMS per day, one free family child connection, free Airtel TV, Wynk Music and Airtel Secure subscriptions. Lastly, this plan also offers one-year of free Amazon Prime membership for the users.

Besides the data benefit, Airtel did not make any changes to other benefits including the free add-on connections. The benefit with Airtel postpaid plans from Rs 649 or more is they come bundled with child connections, meaning a user can add one more Airtel postpaid connection to their number and share both the benefits. Earlier, Airtel used to charge Rs 99 for adding a new postpaid connection to the family, but it has now changed as the postpaid plans itself comes bundled with an add-on connection option.

As mentioned clearly, Airtel is yet to revise the Rs 399, Rs 499 postpaid plans as they still offer 20GB and 40GB data per rental. Airtel might offer 40GB data with the Rs 399 plan and 75GB data with the Rs 499 plan, in-line with what Vodafone is offering with its entry-level RED plans. Vodafone also introduced a Rs 299 RED postpaid plan for select users and Airtel might come up with the same in the next few days.

On the whole, this is a nice move from Airtel, and the benefits of the new plan will be automatically reflected on your account if you're subscribed to the Rs 649 plan. Earlier, Vodafone revised its Rs 399, Rs 499 RED postpaid plans with 100% more data offering. The Rs 399 RED Entertainment plan from Vodafone now gives 40GB of data with data rollover option of up to 200GB, while the Rs 499 plan is currently giving 75GB of data.
