LG surprised one and all by launching its flagship smartphone, the LG G7+ ThinQ at an excellent price of Rs 39,990 in India. The G7+ ThinQ, at that price, goes against the best-selling premium smartphone in India, the OnePlus 6. The G7+ ThinQ offers features which are unknown at this price point. For example, the OnePlus 6 lacks IP68 water and dust certification, but the G7+ ThinQ has it. It has a Quad HD+ display, which only a few smartphones under Rs 40,000 offered till date. Other top features of the G7+ ThinQ include Snapdragon 845 SoC, Android 8.1 Oreo, AI-powered Dual rear cameras, etc. Here are the top features of the G7+ ThinQ which make it a worthy purchase at Rs 39,990.

Super Bright Display

Instead of going with an OLED panel, LG stuck with an LCD panel for the G7+ ThinQ, which raised several eyebrows. It sports a 6.1-inch Quad HD+ (3120×1440) 19:5:9 FullVision “Super Bright Display” said to be the “brightest” and “most vibrant” on the market, according to LG. The display can achieve a maximum brightness level of 1,000 nits, supposedly highest ever for a smartphone. In contrast, the brightness levels on the G7+ ThinQ are twice that of Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Brightness, however, isn’t the only noteworthy feature of LG G7+ ThinQ display. The new Super Bright Display technology comprises 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space. It can automatically switch between six different colour settings depending on what’s being displayed, including Auto, Eco, Cinema, Sports, Game, and Expert.

LG AI CAM

One of the major highlights of LG G7+ ThinQ is AI CAM which is borrowed from the recently launched LG V30S ThinQ. The feature based on artificial intelligence algorithms offers a total of 19 shooting modes for more intelligence optimised photos, and three effect presets to improve photos further. Plus the camera features automatic brightness adjustment for improved low light photography.

Along with AI CAM, the LG G7+ ThinQ offers Bokeh effects or portrait mode that blurs the background to enhance foreground subjects. There is also a Live Photo mode similar to Apple’s Live Photos, which records snippets of movements before and after the shutter is pressed.

3D Stickers

LG also sets to take on Apple iPhone X’s Animoji and Samsung’s AR Stickers with their own 3D stickers feature. The LG G7+ ThinQ uses the facial recognition technology to generate 2D and 3D overlays such as sunglasses and headbands. These objects can be directly viewed on display.

Boombox Speaker

One of the other highlights of the LG G7+ is its “Boombox Speaker” that enhances the overall audio experience for users. The G7+’s speaker takes advantage of the “resonance space” inside the phone chassis to increase the sound level by more than 6dB and double the bass production. Further, LG says the speaker technology offers a powerful “boombox” sound by transforming the built-in speaker into a woofer to amplify the bass effect.

DTS:X

Next in line audio-focused features that LG G7+ ThinQ has is DTS:X 3D Surround Sound technology. It is aimed to offer 3D surround sound experience through the stereo speakers of the handset. The technology works with regular headphones and earphones and doesn’t require any special audio devices to create 3D surround sound experience.

Dedicated Google Assistant Button

Last in the list of major features that LG G7+ ThinQ offers is a dedicated Google Assistant button, that helps you launch Google’s voice assistant with a single tap. The idea is that instead of using “OK Google” phrase to wake up the phone, you just press a button. Similarly, you can press and hold the button to talk to Google Assistant like a walkie-talkie and double tap to trigger Google Lens, Google’s image-recognition feature.

IP68 Protection and MIL-STD810G Durability

The LG G7+ ThinQ comes with IP68 water and dust resistant technology. It will be waterproof up to 1.5m for 30 mins. Interestingly, it also meets the MIL-STD 810G military standard, which makes it durable. It is more likely to survive the drop than many other phones.
