Baidu, the leading Chinese language Internet search provider, Monday said that the version 3.0 of its Android app store MoboMarket is now available in India with full Hindi language support for its rapidly growing contingency of users and developers.
“MoboMarket has gotten really popular here, and we want to show our love to our local fans and developers with a much better localized experience. Hindi language support is just one part of this update. We also added smart recommendations and redeemable MoboMarket points for our users,” he said,” Tim Yang, general manager of Baidu India, said.
The product’s local-first approach will enable Baidu to increase its number of partnerships with Indian developers and help them more effectively reach their users, the India. “MoboMarket is helping to build the foundation of a healthy local ecosystem, which will really benefit the ‘Digital India’ initiative,” Yang said.
In addition to its primary function as an Android app store, MoboMarket 3.0 also includes an optimization tool to speed up smartphone performance. Further, the app store comes with a MoboMarket points system in which users accrue points by accomplishing daily tasks. Those points can then be exchanged for gifts.
The latest version of the app store also comes with a localized recommendation system for users in India.
The previous version of MoboMarket already has over 4.5 million monthly active users in India and has a content library of over 500,000 apps and games, the company said.
Baidu earlier released its Android apps DU Battery Saver, DU Speed Booster, and ES File Explorer for the India market. DU Battery Saver and DU Speed Booster each has over 8 million monthly active users in India, and ES File Explorer has over 10 million monthly active users in India.
