Asus Zenfone 5Z Android 9 Pie Update Now Rolling Out in India

Follow Us

As it promised at the end of 2018, Asus India, today announced the rollout of Android 9 Pie update to its flagship smartphone, the Zenfone 5Z. According to the company, the FOTA update for the Zenfone 5Z is being rolled out in batches and it might take some time for the update to reach your smartphone. Asus also announced that it would be pushing the Android Pie update to Zenfone Max Pro M1 next month. As of now, there's no official changelog available, but the update will be based on ZenUI, which is Asus' proprietary user interface. If you want to check the update status on your Zenfone 5Z, head over the System Updates section inside the Settings and check for the update manually. Otherwise, you can wait for the update notification to pop up on your handset automatically.

Asus Zenfone 5Z Android 9 Pie Update Detailed

Asus said the update weighs around 1.1GB in size and it requires a Wi-Fi connection to download automatically. Unlike the Zenfone Max Pro M1 which runs a clean version of Android, the Zenfone 5Z boots Asus' ZenUI which has a custom skin on top of Android. So the upcoming Android 9 Pie update will also have ZenUI on top. Asus' ZenUI comes with a host of features and it bets big on Artificial Intelligence. Asus has added features such as AI Battery, AI Brightness and others which help in saving battery life.

As noted, the complete changelog for the update is not available right now

Asus Zenfone 5Z Android 9 Pie Update: How to Check

Asus confirmed that the update would be rolled out in batches, so not every Zenfone 5Z user will receive it right away. To update the software, a notification might automatically appear on on the phone's notification bar. If the notification appears, all you need to do is to tap on that to download the update. Once the download completes, a pop-up notification will appear asking for the permission to reboot the smartphone. Tapping Install will reboot the device and once the device boots up, your Asus Zenfone 5Z will run the latest Android 9 Pie update.

However, if the update notification didn't appear automatically, it can be checked and initiated manually via the Settings> System > System Updates.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Max Pro M2 Will Receive Android Pie Update Next Month

Last year, Asus confirmed that the Max Pro M1 would receive the Android 9 Pie update by the end of February 2019. The Taiwanese company also said that it's currently testing the Android Pie update on Zenfone Max Pro M2. So the Android 9 Pie update for both the Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Max Pro M2 will be rolled out next month. At the moment, we don't have any proper information about the Android 9 Pie update for Asus ROG Phone and Asus Zenfone Max M2.
