On travelling with airlines, it is quite common that bags get misplaced or go to some place else. In such situations, now iPhone users running iOS 18.2 public beta will be able to share the live location of the bag (which has the AirTag) from the FindMy platform with the airline.

Apple, a tech giant, has made it very simple for passengers to find their lost baggage with the help of airlines. Apple's AirTag, which is available worldwide now, can be put inside the bag. This much, almost all of us know. We can track where our bag is through the FindMy platform from Apple. However, at the moment, you can't share the location with any other entity or company that can help with locating the bag.




On travelling with airlines, it is quite common that bags get misplaced or go to some place else. In such situations, now iPhone users running iOS 18.2 public beta will be able to share the live location of the bag (which has the AirTag) from the FindMy platform with the airline. Users will simply be able to share the location with airlines by generating the 'Share Item Location Link' through their iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The recepient will be able to open this link and see an interactive map which will show the location of the bag.

This way, finding bags will become more convenient for the users and the airlines. Apple has officially partnered with many airlines to enable this service. Airlines including Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Eurowings, Iberia, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Turkish Airlines, United, Virgin Atlantic, and Vueling have onboarded with Apple to enable this.

Since this is only on iOS 18.2 public beta, users running their devices on iOS 18.1 or previous versions of the iOS will not be able to use this feature. However, once the stable version of iOS 18.2 rolls out, you can expect that Apple will release this feature globally and by then also partner with more airlines.
