So, the rumour is now official. Recently, we reported that Motorola and Lenovo will launch an Android One edition of the mid-range Moto X4 smartphone. And today, the company has officially launched the Android One edition Moto X4 in the US for $399, which is the same price as the original Moto X4 device. The device will be part of Project Fi program in the US, a first non-Google smartphone to be part of Project Fi.

Android One Motorola Moto X4

Customers in the US can pre-order the Android One edition of the Moto X4 starting today. The Moto X4 comes in two colour options- Super Black and Sterling Blue. You might be wondering why an Android One edition of the Moto X4 even exists because Motorola is already using near stock Android in its smartphones. However, in recent times, Motorola is not delivering regular software updates, which is the reason for this partnership.

The primary aspect of this partnership is to deliver timely software to the customers, and uncluttered software experience. Google is reconsidering the Android One project in recent times. The search giant recently collaborated with Xiaomi and announced a smartphone called Mi A1, which is already doing extremely well in the Indian market.

Apart from the stock Android, the Android One Moto X4 features exactly similar hardware as the standard Moto X4. Also, the Moto X4 seems to be a disappointment for some Motorola fans as the device won't pack Motorola's nifty additions such as Moto display, the One-handed navigation key, etc. Nevertheless, the device will receive regular software updates.

In terms of specifications, the Moto X4 flaunts a 5.2-inch Full HD display with a 3D glass body design. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

The Moto X4 features a dual camera setup at the back. A 12MP primary sensor and an 8MP wide-angle sensor are present at the back of the phone. Up front, Motorola has added a 16MP selfie camera.

Although the device is part of the Android One program, it still runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but an update for Android 8.0 Oreo could be released by the end of this year. The Moto X4 is an IP68 certified smartphone and is backed by a 3000mAh battery.

Just yesterday, Motorola started teasing the Moto X4 smartphone launch in India, and the launch date is set for October 3. And the company will most likely launch the Android One Moto X4 itself in the Indian market. The device will give a great fight to the Xiaomi Mi A1 if Motorola launches the Android One edition in India.
