Well, it is no more mystery. Google finally unleashed the name of its next version of Android, codenamed Android N. The 'N' stands for 'Nougat', and that's not as exciting as Nutella. At the I/O conference in March, Google released the developer preview for the Android N. The version of Android Nougat is Android 7.0, succeeding Android 6.0 Marshmallow. As we reported earlier, Google conducted a poll for deciding the name, and it seems Nougat came up as the perfect fit for Google.

The search engine giant even launched a micro website to get suggestions for naming Android N. There were many suggestions such as New York Cheesecake, Nutella, Nankhatai, Neyyappam, and much more.

Interestingly, Google released the final developer preview (4.0) of the Android N for Nexus devices, last month. The last developer version 4.0 contains Android N SDK with final APIs (API level 24). A stable version of Android 7.0 Nougat will roll out by the end of September. Google unveiled the statue of Android Nougat in front of its headquarters in Mountain View, California.
