Amazon, after launching the Echo range of speakers in India has now introduced the Amazon Echo Spot at an introductory price of Rs 10,499. The Echo Spot will retail for Rs 12,999 in the country once the introductory offer ends. It offers the same features as the other Echo devices but comes with a 2.5-inch display with which a user can make video calls, view content etc. Amazon says that the Echo Spot has a slightly better speaker than the Echo Dot, which is the smallest speaker in the Echo lineup. Internationally, the Echo Spot received a lot of praise for its tiny form factor and for the functionalities it offers.

The Amazon Echo Spot is smaller than the Echo and comes with volume controls along with a four-mic array. There's a 1.4-inch single speaker, and the 2.5-inch display displays the information related to weather updates, calendar updates and more. Further, a front-facing camera has been added too, meaning users can make video calls via the Echo Spot.

On top of the Echo Spot specific features, the device offers all the other Alexa features. The Echo Spot can play videos from news channels such as Aaj Tak, India Today, NDTV and Times Now. And of course, users can even watch video trailers from Amazon Prime Video.

Amazon has customised the Echo Spot for the Indian audience. Cricket fans can watch the match highlights from ESPNCricinfo and other portals on the Echo Spot. Other Indian-specific features such as ordering food from Zomato, booking an Ola cab etc. can be done through the Echo Spot. Also, while playing a music track, the Echo Spot displays the lyrics on the screen.

As mentioned, the Echo Spot allows users to make Alexa-to-Alexa calls, but the functionality is limited to Echo devices. For example, if your friend has an Amazon Echo device with Alexa enabled, you can call them using the Echo Spot.

Amazon has an introductory price of Rs 10,499 for the Amazon Echo Spot. And for the ICICI Debit or Credit card users, there will be an additional cashback of Rs 1,499, which brings the price of the device to Rs 9,000. In the United States, the Amazon Echo Spot is priced at $130, and after the cashback offer on ICICI cards, the Indian price also comes to the same range. Furthermore, if you're looking to purchase two Echo Spot units, you'll get them at Rs 19,998 with standard cards and Rs 18,498 with ICICI cards. The introductory offer is valid until May 31, so grab it before the offer ends.

Alongside the Echo Spot announcement, Amazon also discounted the existing Echo range of speakers- Echo Dot, Echo and the Echo Plus. The Echo Dot is down to Rs 3,999 from Rs 4,499, while the Amazon Echo is retailing for Rs 7,999, down from the original price of Rs 9,999. The Echo Plus will be available at its original price of Rs 14,999, but Amazon will be bundling a Philips Hue bulb with the device.
