According to our sources, Airtel is working on a hybrid DTH STB, which is said to provide online surfing and DTH service over Wi-Fi or maybe via Fiber cable. As we already know that Airtel is aggressively rolling out their V-Fiber Internet service to every corner of the country and this might well help the DTH service as well.

It is also said that Airtel is making this move especially because of the continuous growth in online content in India and this device could revolutionize the entire Indian telecom sector.

Our sources claim that Airtel is closely in discussion with leading global content providers to bundle the content services with this upcoming DTH service. There were some rumors in the past as well regarding Airtel in talks with Netflix for a potential content tie-up, and this might be the outcome of those discussions.
