Airtel Expands ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ Campaign by Partnering With Intex; Launches Aqua Lions N1, Aqua A4, and Aqua S3 Smartphones

Airtel is aggressively expanding its partnership with domestic handset manufacturers to launch smartphones under 'Mera Pehla Smartphone' initiative. After partnering with Karbonn and Celkon, Airtel today announced its partnership with another Indian brand Intex and made three Intex smartphones-Aqua Lions N1, Aqua A4, and Aqua S3 available at effective prices.

Both Intex and Airtel added three new Intex smartphones to the Airtel Mera Pehla Smartphone portfolio. The recently Intex Aqua Lions N1 is the cheaper smartphone of the three and comes at an effective price of just Rs 1649. Intex launched the smartphone for Rs 3,799 in the country a few days ago.

The Intex Aqua Lions N1 comes with a 4-inch WVGA display, Android 7.0 Nougat, 1.1GHz MediaTek processor, 1400mAh battery, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card, 2MP rear camera, and a 0.3MP front-facing camera.

Alongside the Aqua Lions N1, Airtel also added two more smartphones- Aqua A4 and Aqua S3. The Aqua S3 is the premium smartphone under the Airtel Mera Pehla Smartphone program.

The Intex Aqua A4 comes at an effective price of Rs 1,999, compared to the market price of Rs 4,999). The smartphone has a 4-inch WVGA display, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1750mAh battery, Android Nougat OS, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB. It has a 5MP primary camera on the rear and a 2MP front shooter.

The Intex Aqua S3 has the better specifications of the three. It is effectively priced at Rs 4,379, compared to the market price of Rs 6,649. It comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display and is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor. It has 2GB RAM and an internal storage of 16GB that can be expanded up to 64GB. A 2450mAh battery backs the entire package, and the smartphone rocks 8MP primary camera and a 5MP front shooter with flash for taking pictures in low-light.

Customers need to make a down payment of Rs 3149 for the Aqua Lions N1, and Rs 3499 for the Aqua A4, and Rs 5879 for the Aqua S3 smartphone.

Like the previous smartphones under the Mera Pehla Smartphone program, these three Intex smartphones also comes bundled with a monthly pack of Rs 169 from Airtel. The Rs 169 plan from Airtel offers 500MB of data per day, unlimited voice calls for 28 days.

The customer is required to make 36 continuous monthly recharges of Rs 169 from Airtel. After 18 months, the customer will get a cash refund of Rs 500 and another Rs 1000 after the completion of 36 months, taking the total cash benefit to Rs 1500. If a customer fails to recharge continuously or won't be able to make recharges worth Rs 3,000 in the first 18 months, they won't receive the cashback.

In case, if a customer does not wish to opt for the Rs 169 bundled plan, she/he has the flexibility of doing recharges of any denomination and validity as per individual requirements. However, to claim the cash refund benefit, recharges worth Rs 3000 must be done within the first 18 months (to claim the first refund instalment of Rs 500) and another Rs 3000 over the next 18 months (to claim the second refund instalment of Rs 1000).

In addition, all the three Intex smartphones come with support for Airtel VoLTE. And the ownership of the 4G smartphones is full with the customer, and there is no need to return the device to Airtel/Intex at any point to claim the cash benefit.
