Airtel Digital TV is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to adding new subscribers on board. The DTH arm of Bharti Airtel already made its intentions clear that it's going after the Cable TV subscribers in the country who're looking to make a switch to DTH platform. Airtel Digital TV added close to four lakh subscribers in the last quarter and it has now slashed prices of its HD and SD set-top boxes by Rs 200 to lure the subscribers. With Tata Sky removing its multi-TV policy entirely, it's a good time for the customers to join Airtel Digital TV as they can get set-top boxes at discounted prices. Furthermore, Airtel Internet TV box also received a price cut and is available at Rs 3,499 which includes one-month of free subscription. It's worth mentioning that Tata Sky also reduced prices of set-top boxes by Rs 400 to take on the competition.

Airtel Digital TV Price Cut on New Set-Top Boxes

Airtel Digital TV has cut the prices of its new connection by as much as Rs 200. This price drop comes on the set-top boxes of Airtel Digital TV for the new customers. What’s worth noting is that this new price cut for new connection will be eligible on both HD and SD set-top boxes from Airtel Digital TV. The new discount will not be available on the Internet TV set-top box.

What’s interesting to note is that a few days back only, Tata Sky has slashed the prices of its set-top boxes also. In a move to please the consumers and to lure in more users, the DTH service provider announced that it would be reducing the cost of a new set-top box by Rs 400. Just like the new move by Airtel Digital TV, this price deduction by Tata Sky was also applicable on HD and SD, both types of STBs. The company also announced that after the price cut, the SD set-top box would be available for Rs 1,600 whereas the HD set-top box would be available for Rs 1,800. Although Tata Sky ships a total of 4 variants for the new connection buyers, the recent price cut has only been introduced on the HD and SD STBs only. TelecomTalk independently verified the price cut on these STBs with Airtel Digital TV.

Airtel Digital TV Introduces 6 New Channel Packs

It can be agreed that while other companies like Tata Sky and D2h have remained relatively active and competitive in the last few weeks, that isn’t necessarily the case for Airtel Digital TV. However, courtesy of this new move and owing to the introduction of 6 channel packs, we can now see Airtel Digital TV put up a competitive front in the industry. On Friday, Airtel Digital TV also introduced six new long-term channel packs for the subscribers which come in either 6-months or 12-months subscription options. These channels packs include Hindi Value SD Pack, UDP Packs, Gujarat Value Sports SD Pack, Gujarat Mega SD Pack, Gujarat Value Sports HD and Gujarat Mega HD.
