Aircel Gets Three Awards At World Brand Congress 2009

AIRCEL Coveted with 3 AwardsAIRCEL India’s fifth largest GSM mobile service Operator was honored at the World Brand Congress 2009 with three awards, Brand Leadership in Telecom, Marketing Campaign & Marketing Professional of the Year.

Aircel, a part of Maxis Communications Berhad, Malaysia, is India’s fifth largest GSM mobile service provider with a subscriber base of over 25 million and is the fastest growing mobile operator in the country.It is the market leader in Tamil Nadu, Assam, North-East and Chennai. Aircel is now present in 18 Telecom Circles (Mumbai, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh East, Uttar Pradesh West, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Kolkata, Assam, Bihar, Chennai, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, North-East, Orissa, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal) and with spectrum secured for all the remaining circles (a total of 23 circles in India), the company is on track to become a leading Pan-India Operator.

Aircel launched its GSM Mobile Services in 8 circles this year in a short span of 4 months, the first ever aggressive ramp up by a Telecom operator in the history of Indian Telecom. A Pan India operator, having presence in all the Metros, Aircel is targeting to touch 30 million subscribers by the end of 2009.
