As expected, rumours about the forthcoming Apple iPhone 7 have started flowing in. The latest one says that the iPhone 7 might not feature the 3.5 mm audio jack. The report further suggests that the company want to make the upcoming device slimmer than its predecessor. By removing the audio jack, the device will become 1mm slimmer than the iPhone 6s.
So what now? How is Apple going to make a worthy alternative for the universal audio jack? Well, the company is planning to integrate Lightning Port for the headphones. This will not take much space on the body of the device, and will even deliver good audio quality. In a bid to make that happen, Apple might package its device with the digital-to-analog converter infused EarPods. It means that the third-party manufacturers will then be following the new implementation and start making Lightning-to-analog adapters, in case Apple does not bundle one.
Apple has always been quite vocal about the changes that it plans to make, and many of these rumours prove to be true for the company. In June last year, the company included new specifications for the manufacturers at the MFI program, which the company organises for the third-party accessory makers. The new specifications rolled out to the manufacturers will instigate them to build headphones with a Lightning cable. Companies such as Philips and JBL have already announced Lightning port compatible headphones, but these are not available widely.
Talking about other rumours about the iPhone 7, many of the rumours claim that the device might feature 3GB of RAM with waterproof design. Other reports suggested that the device might sport a dual-lens primary camera with DSLR-like image quality.
