6 Competitive Postpaid Plans Unveiled by Indian Telecom Operators Recently

Reliance Jio is all over the Indian telecom sector since 2016. The telco, which first stirred the industry with its aggressive prepaid plans has now shifted its focus towards postpaid segment, in order to increase the ARPU. Already, the telco has its ARPU much higher than the private telecom operators such as Airtel, BSNL, Vodafone and Idea Cellular. And stepping into the postpaid segment will only help the telco increase its ARPU. Alongside Jio's aggressive Rs 199 postpaid plan, other telcos also unveiled a bunch of new postpaid plans to stay in contention with each other. Of course, operators are yet to match Jio's aggressive plan, but postpaid plans from Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular come with additional benefits on top of the standard voice and data benefit.

Postpaid Plans

Reliance Jio
Reliance Jio has set its foot in the postpaid segment by launching the Rs 199 plan that offers unlimited voice calls, 25GB of data per month with no data rollover sadly and 100 SMS per day for a period of 30 days. Jio's plan is also eligible for international roaming calls and messages and the benefits are minimal too.

Bharti Airtel
Earlier this month, Airtel reintroduced one of its popular postpaid plan which is the Rs 649 one. A couple of months back, the telco for some unknown reasons removed the Rs 649 plan for new users, although existing users were on the same plan even after the removal. The Rs 649 plan is now offering 50GB of data, unlimited voice calls without any limit to any network across the country even on roaming, one free add-on connection, 100 SMS per day and free Amazon Prime Subscription for an entire billing cycle.

BSNL
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), in a bid to counter the private telecom operators, introduced the Rs 399 postpaid plan, also known as Ghar Wapsi plan. This plan from the state-run telco offers 30GB of with no daily or weekly FUP limit and unlimited voice calls. Sadly, BSNL is not offering any SMS benefits with this plan, which is underwhelming. Do make a note that the voice calls are unlimited even on roaming.

Vodafone India
Vodafone has revised its entry-level Rs 399 postpaid plan with better benefits on par with Airtel and Idea Cellular. Vodafone's Rs 399 RED Basic is now providing a user unlimited voice calls, 20GB of data along with free Vodafone Play subscription. Sadly, Vodafone is also not offering any SMS benefits with this plan.

Idea Cellular
Like Airtel and Vodafone, Idea Cellular also revised the Rs 389 postpaid plan, which is its entry-level plan. The Rs 389 postpaid plan of Idea offers 20GB of data, unlimited voice calls and 3000 SMS per month. The advantage of choosing Idea, Vodafone and Airtel postpaid plan is the data rollover scheme, which allows a user to carry forward this month's data to next month.

BSNL
Alongside the Rs 399 plan, BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) also introduced a Rs 799 postpaid plan with a whopping 60GB of data benefit, unlimited voice calls even on roaming and no SMS benefit. Sadly, the letdown with BSNL plans is the lack of data rollover scheme and SMS benefits. But on the brighter side, the telco is offering 20% extra data benefit than the private telcos.
