Here is an initiative from TT to let the world know what are the primary and secondary Networks people use mostly for various reasons when one has to choose between multiple options to get their choice of selection fulfilled.

Primary- Aircel Mumbai
Secondary- Loop mobile Mumbai (worst network)
Jay February 12, 2013 at 11:51 pm
Primary – Aircel – Have always been cheaper for my usage when compared to other networks. And Coverage was too good in TN, and has always been handy wherever I traveled in TN.. Moreover, the service was good, never faced illegitimate deductions.. Though the C.Care is pathetic, when we call, response was really good, when we email our problems.. 3G coverage is good in Chennai, and was available in many other cities in TN, but I felt, it needs to improve.. The 3G coverage for Aircel was pretty low, considering its costumer count in TN Circle.. Hope they expand it to tier II & III cities soon…
Secondary – BSNL – Wondering why I’m having it ?? Was using it for cheap roaming plan, but now even that has changed. The coverage is terrible inside my home, still hung around with it!! The only reason I’m having it even now is, BSNL LL plans have changed, and 175 free calls are applicable only to BSNL N/W, so I’m using it only for incoming, when I’m not in home !!!

my first own mobile talking started on 3/3/2007.During that time,One and Only PVT network coverage in my village is “Aircel”., (bsnl is available in my area but outgoing call rate 1.20Rs /min.. and u want to do monthly recharge Rs:200 for connection.I think 40rs talkvalue added in main balance)
3/3/2007 to mid of 2008 = aircel
mid 2008 to mid 2010 = vodafone# only
mid 2010 to mid 2011 – vodafone# (incoming ) & Uninor (outgoing)
During Traveling i faced signal problems in uninor.,thats y again i changed to
from mid 2011 – vodafone# & idea ( uninor ported to idea)
at the end of 2011 , indoor coverage of idea in chennai ,very worst…i didn’t maked call in a single attempt.,
from march 2012 – tata docomo # ( vodafone ported to Docomo for outgoing purpose) & bsnl ( idea ported to BSNL)
day by day,Docomo increased their STV rates gradually .,
therefore again i used MNP option
from NOV 2012 to till Now (BSNL & BSNL)
Best in BSNL: Roaming free plan.,SMS sending possible in Roaming…regularly i am using STV 135 pack ., it gives 400 mins local or std call to any network ,so Rs: 0.3375 / min (34ps) …no extra charge( 1st min charge)..
incase if i using other network,I want to do Rate cutter for reduce the call rate.,in past they all were charged 1st call of the day., Now they charging 1st min every call.,
so i feel .,BSNL is economical for me..,
My fav operators: Vodafone,BSNL,Aircel.,
(Rcom only still i not used)

Primary- Tata Docomo GSM. I have been using this SIM for last 2years (Ported out from Reliance GSM)
Although Docomo has hiked their normal call rates to 1.2p/s and 1.2p/2sec on tariff but I am still using it because I get 100SMS free per day after the first one charged at 60paise.
and they provide constant 2G speed of 16KBps on their 3G network.
I feel too port out to Uninor because of the ultra cheap tariff they provide, and their network is stronger in indoors too as compared to Tata Docomo.
But then, we all know Uninor too is going to show its true colors once it gets a stable position in the market.
So ignoring the price hike thing for now. Still expecting for some surprises from Docomo.
My Secondary Number is BSNL- For its good coverage in rural and remote areas.
Love BSNL for their free Customer care services. We can call and talk to their CC representatives ‘n’ times a day unlike Docomo which has limited talking to CCare to just 1 convo per day.(If your call to CC gets disconnected because of some network error, you can’t talk to them again.. Hate Docomo for this.)
Will make BSNL my primary number if Docomo keeps increasing its call rates and hikes data and other tariff prices anymore.
BSNL’s 135 stv is enough for me.
Will also consider porting out from Docomo to Uninor.

Due to Reliance mobile THALA PLAN, now i am using Reliance GSM for outgoing local calls and reliance to reliance calls (3 to 4 family members are ported in to reliance). 500MB data is enough for mobile browsing. Internet speed is not bad. Getting around 10KB/s. (In peak hours we need to try 2 to 3 times to get connection otherwie everything is good)
Second sim is DOCOMO (Previously i used docomo for outgoing calls now its in idle due to high call rate. just keeping the number)
Third Airtel, due high call rate i am not using it. Its also in IDLE. (Why i am keeping this number is in my village airtel giving good coverage. So only using whenever visiting my village)

Tamilnadu circle :
I use as follows (all prepaid) :
Primary number : Idea (regular outgoing calls, SMS and 2G data)
Secondary : BSNL (only for incoming because of good coverage)
Tertiary : Aircel (SMS is free till now without any booster pack because I tool the SIM in 2006 for Rs.888 (unlimited local SMS free)).
So I always keep the tertiary number active always.
Extra : Tata docomo (number is 9xxx140140). I also keep this sim always active because I got this fancy number in prepaid only for Rs.100 in 2009.

@javed
You have to put your handset to GPRS mode from WCDMA mode after you have consumed all the 3G data. If not you will get only 3-4KBps. You have to put your handset to GPRS mode to enjoy 128 kbps!
I get speeds upto 20-25KBps after 3G data completion
