Vodafone Smart 3G, Android Smartphone Now For Rs.3100

In an attempt to increase adoption of 3G service in India, country’s 2nd largest mobile service provider, Vodafone has reduced the price of its Android, 3G handset Vodafone Smart from Rs.4995 to Rs.3100.

Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor and Google’s Android 2.2.1 OS (Froyo), ‘Vodafone Smart’ comes with attractive features like 2.8 inch capacitive touch display, 528 MHz ARM 11 CPU, 2 mega pixel camera with Geo-tagging, WiFi, Video recording and MP4/3GP playback, up to 32GB expandable Memory (2GB card Free), Stereo FM and MP3.

The handset was launched in India in December, 2011 for Rs.4995 with bundled offer of Double Data Benefit on their 3G subscription.The handset is manufactured by Huawei for Vodafone.

This mobile is advertised on the vodafone delhi/chennai/karnataka website. But if you switch to mumbai website, it is not there.

It’s a textbook case of bad marketing and distribution if you ask me.

Today, I visited vodafone head office and nearby stores in lower parel, mumbai. It it not available there.

I think this is available in delhi only.

The Battery backup of this phone is too bad. It has backdated Android v2.2 and slow processor.
But its worth buying as you are getting a SmartPhone in the price bracket of a feature phone.

I am using it since last 2 months…bought for Rs. 2900 only…amazing phone value for money…3G & Modem tethering * WiFi hotspot are just awesome features supported by this handset; only drawback is battery backup (if you do not use battery saver app) and it cannot run high end games due to processor speed limitation.

Omg!!! Just a few months back I was all set to buy this phone for Rs 4995/- provided it was unlocked as I didn’t want to commit myself to a service provider whose service (data) is of the lowest quality in our town most of the time and ironically the CCEs upon making a complaint say that either there is temporary congestion or advise me to see my handset to Vodafone Store to check whether there is something wrong with the handset ( as if I am a novice user who won’t know should there be any problem in my handset). The executive who called me ( I requested Vodafone on Twitter to arrange to call me) expressed their inability to make it unlocked. And as mentioned above, I decided to not to buy it. Ofcourse there are some softwares which can jailbreak but it voids the guarantee.
