I just got it checked with vodafone customer care. But they confirmed that this plan is not available.
I don’t have a vodafone number with me, otherwise i would have tried the sms thing.

    Did it work for anybody??

It is indeed a super duper offer, I’m a frequent traveller between KL & Coimbatore, TN the border district and Voda customer, this will help me in a big way

But I dont think its “a first of its kind new Roaming plan with free incoming calls”. If I remember correctly the BPL Mobile (current Voda network, BPL->Hutch->Voda) had a similar plan in 1999-2000 period roaming between Coimbatore and Kerala with BPL mobile, charges were same rate as home circle and no roaming charges were levied. Those days incoming were also paid and for heavy users there was free incoming.

My bro in law was using BPL mobile that time (he still holds the same number with voda) , and he was a frequent travel between these cities so he was availing this plan.

Today i dialled *444# in my vodafone kerala number and select the first option “Happy Hour”. I got a offer like”Happy hours for today start from 2PM. Enjoy 100MB of free data usage till 4PM today. Press 1 to activate”. If you have vodafone number pls dial *444# and grab this offers.

Bro, this Happy Hours scheme is available from more than a year. In our circle, Vodafone has three offers which keep rotating,

      1. All Vodafone Local calls @10p/min.
      2. All Local Calls at 1p/2s.
      3. All Local and STD @40p/min.

These all are valid from 2-4PM. You’ve to check what is there for your number on a particular day.

You’re right with offer in your area as in some circles mostly in Southern India they offer 100MB 2G/3G Internet in Happy Hours between 2-4 PM and the offer remains the same. I read on some site that in 3G areas, if you activate Happy Hours while on 3G network you will get 3G speed. So it’s like getting 3GB for free per month. :)

I think the existing bonus card tariff may get cancelled. I agree that I am a Tamilnadu customer. But this is common in all the operators. Even Tamilnadu Aircel said that the incoming roaming free benefit is valid for 30 or 90 days (according to the denomination) and the base tariff of Rs.0.01 per second will be valid for 180 days (not 90 + 180 days) which coincides / starts with the first 90 days.

If you enable this roaming pack and stay in Tamilnadu, all your outgoing calls within India will be charged at Rs.0.01 / second (the olden days of Rs.0.01 / second calling has come in another way).

Instead of this, they should introduce zonal roam free packs like free roaming in all circles of Southern zone for subscribers in South and similarly for Northern, Western and Eastern zones. In Haryana, they have Rs.19 pack which allows free roaming only in Delhi circle for 60 days and fair usage policy is 250 mins of both incoming and outgoing.

BTW Vodafone has today brought trial offers on 2G/3G data packs for all new and existing users in Haryana and it maybe also launched in some other circles too. But I’m confirming for Haryana circle only.

Today I dialed *444# which is USSD number for activation of different special packs. There I found a menu written as “TRIAL” on option No.2. Selecting it showing two options,
    1. Trial Internet 2G
    2. Trial Internet 3G

Under the 2G option, they are offering 500MB data for 7 days for just Rs.25 and in 3G, they are offering 500MB 3G data for 7 days at just Rs.49. It’s actually 8 days as date of activation is not included. I don’t know whether this can be re-activated or just for one time. But if this can be re-activated, users in 3G areas can get 2GB 3G data for Rs.198 only. :)

You can also try in your state where *444# works.

Since the revision of 2G packs which made it costly to use GPRS, the AVoId group has seen big fall in subscription of data packs. But they are trying hard to make user subscribe again by offering best offers. Airtel offering 1GB 2G data at Rs.49/month under best offer to many users. Vodafone has followed the same by launching these trial packs and I hope Idea which hasn’t offered anything in name of best offer to individual customers will follow. But with Idea it is hope against hope as you never find any best offer under data category from them.

Oops! This is a promotional offer by Vodafone during IPL. So its valid in all the circles. Their website says its an one time offer but those who have more than one SIM can try on all. I’ve also activated 2G offer as 3G isn’t present in my town and posting this message using the same. The TRIAL option appears sometimes after dialing *444# and sometimes it won’t. lol So if you don’t see it after dialing, try again until it appears. Speed is rocking at 30-35KBps. I wish 3G was here at my town too. Definitely had subscribed to Rs.49 pack.

I will re-try after 7 days to check whether it can be activated again or not. :P

Yes, they give awesome offers during IPL. I don’t exactly remember the year of IPL but Vodafone offered free internet between 8 am to 12 a m without any recharge or STVs. All was working awesome in early days. I was enjoying free internet but eventually the traffic increased and most of the routes got jammed!

Lets hope they give unlimited 3G in those days…..just imagination……

Vodafone KL website is probably not updated for this plan yet. It says Bonus Card 21 has “All Indiamobile calls @ 1p/sec and All India Landline calls @ 1.5p/sec”. We track recharge tariff on a daily basis for all operators across all circles. We notice that sometimes it takes a few days for new products to be updated on the operators’ websites.

With this plan , 10paise call rate is possible from kerala to tamilnadu & Karnataka. If your relatives are there in tamilnadu or karnataka, just give one kerala vodafone sim card and speak to them at 10paise/min.

Why with Vodafone for incoming free in 2 states only
Use BSNL Plan 199 for free incoming calls for 180 days all over India except Delhi,Mumbai & J&K
STV 65 giving 10 paise Local BSNL 2 BSNL calls for 30 days

I Don’t Know Why Vodafone is Making This Kind of Melodrama. Might Be it is Easier To Fill Their Bucks. Useless Indian Telecom Regulatory Authorization Sector (TRAI) and Department of Telecom Who are Sleeping Like a Buffalo.
