Vodafone Introduces New Roaming Packs With Reduced Incoming Call Rates For Prepaid Subscribers

Vodafone New Roaming PackVodafone India today launched a new attractive national roaming plan for its prepaid customers. With this plan, Vodafone prepaid subscribers will be able to receive incoming calls while roaming on Vodafone network at 30p/minute, across the country. Outgoing call rates are highly competitive at 1.5p/sec for all local & STD calls, while roaming or at home.

The price point for the new national roaming plan varies from state to state and ranges between Rs 26 to Rs 47. (In Delhi, there are two price points… Rs 21 and Rs 42). With the holiday season approaching, most people will be planning their vacations and this new roaming plan will let the vacationers enjoy affordable roaming rates.

Standard rates will be applicable for SMS, data roaming and ISD roaming. The plans come with a roaming incoming benefit of 30 days and tariff validity of 180 days.

These new roaming plans for pre paid customers are presently available in all Vodafone circles, except Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and J&K.

  • nitesh September 10, 2013 9:59 am

hi , actually i m working in malasiya and my vodaphone sim is workin there but every tym they will monthly IR near abt 99 rs and the thing is they also cut for incoming msgs 15 rs per msg …….

  • S.Sudhakar May 31, 2013 9:46 pm

BSNL’s roamfree plan is far more better with free incoming benefit for 180 days compared to this waste(voda)fone which offers that too only reduced incoming only for 30 days.

BSNL’s simple plan 100 is also useful in roaming for making outgoing calls.

Actually all operators should have given free incoming call in roaming. But the exit of some mid range operators like aircel, videocon, uninor in some circles made the idiotic giants to increase incoming call tariff from free to Rs.0.30 per minute.

Still aircel Tamilnadu gives one India plan with free incoming in aircel circles for 30 and 90 days.

good job from vodafone….gujarats largest subscriber base provider and too costly compare to other providers but top in customer care services so this action is taken by vodafone is good for vodafone users

  • merc782 April 26, 2013 4:36 pm

Vodafone prepaid changed some International roaming rules. Now my vodafone prepaid sim stopped working in International roaming in Canada.

    • SS April 27, 2013 12:42 pm

Your connection has been purchased from which state? For your information: Vodafone allows IR for limited states only just like IR is not available in Bihar. here in UP East, they only allow customers to receive calls and texts in roaming. You could better use postpaid connection.

Also, if your Vodafone SIM just stopped working then it can be an error, your current operator’s side. Try latching on other network. Your balance might be below Rs 150. It can be problem with your number.

    • S.Sudhakar May 8, 2013 12:06 pm

      To merc782 :

Have you noted this point under RENTAL section in prepaid international roaming page? :
“You’ll need to pay a monthly rental of Rs 149, plus roaming rates while abroad”.

      Shocking.

Better get Airtel. They will charge international roaming rental of Rs.99 per month.

Airtel offers rate cutters (can be recharged only by using the link below) for international roaming customers.

    DONT WORRY….

If u a MP-CG customer, u should choose Vodafone over any network.
Vodafone is offering all india access with ur home 2G/3G plan. So u can roam anywhere u want with ur data pack.
Second one is….. everyone knows im MP-CG, idea have best of best coverage, but many of few knows…. Idea and Vodafone have a aggreement for their sharing 2G network.
If u r in village, dont have vodafone network u will automatically get idea network and vice versa. U can check it anywhere.
Last one is…. interms of call charges Vodafone is quite cheaper than Airtel and Idea.
MP-CG coustmer knows it very well.
    Good Luck

    • SS April 25, 2013 10:28 pm

Any such agreement in UP East?

Vodafone has blanket 2G coverage but less 3G coverage (or very less). Idea has stable 2G AND 3G coverage.

  • mukul April 24, 2013 4:23 pm

friends bsnl ka network n 3g bekar h mpcg me. incoming roming ka to idea nhi h muze.
n free roming keval new co de rahi h. jinka network ku6 city me hu h. n airtel, idea dono apne network me data charge lagate h. if we use net in roming area.. b4 sc cancellation order aircel was in
    mpcg..i miss aircel.wt a
    callrate,.msg pack,.net speed.
    idea is too costly

  • Kultaj Malik April 24, 2013 12:42 pm

Hi, when is this recharge for the roaming benefit be active as its still not available on the website of Vodafone. I have a Delhi number and am in roaming most of the year and so was very interested in having the same recharged.

  • ford April 24, 2013 10:10 am

They have increased rates of Local and STD calls to 90 Paise and reduced the roaming charges to 30 Paise.

    • Saurabh April 24, 2013 10:44 am

30p/min is for incoming only and not outgoing. Outgoing charges of 1.5p/s Loc+STD is just like base tariff in home circle. :)

  • somnath April 24, 2013 7:21 am

Videocon me roaming free Hai, without any cost..

    • Saurabh April 24, 2013 10:51 am

But yaar Videocon ki apna network aur services bhi toh just Gujarat, Haryana, MP aur Punjab mein hai. Kitney log Punjab se Gujarat ya MP travel kartey hai. Punjab-Haryana toh neighbouring states hai and mostly log travel kartey hai daily but other circle mein toh Videocon ka other companies se tie-up hai aur roaming charges bahot zyada lagtey hai dusrey k network pe. Baki 3 circles jahan k liye license hai like Bihar-Jharkhand, UP (East), UP(West), wahan toh services naa k barabar hai aur kab fully operational hongi uski date ni hai. Maybe by 2013-end.

      • SS April 24, 2013 2:12 pm

Hey dude, did you remember the question that i asked earlier- “Whether Airtel 3G data pack of Rajasthan customer will be valid in UP East on roaming on Idea’s network”

You replied- “It will be charged 10p/10KB irrespective of 3G data pack or not”

        However Airtel replied-

        “Namaste,

You wrote in on 23rd April 2013, regarding 3G network coverage during national roaming against airtel dongle number 9XXXXXXX50.

Please be informed that you would be able to use the 3G services during national roaming against the mentioned airtel account only if you are an existing 3G user of Rajasthan circle. Also, the account will not be charged for the 3G usage during roaming if you are availing any 3G data pack.

For any further queries, you may get in touch with us at airtel.presence @ in . airtel . com .

airtel appreciates your business and always welcomes your suggestions/feedback.”

So Saurabh, just an extra information even though I appreciate your all the older feedbacks.

        • Saurabh April 24, 2013 4:01 pm

Bro, I request you to first check by activating smallest 3G pack on your Rajasthan number and using it on Idea UP East network. If data deducts from your account then keep on using and it will clarify that Inter-Circle roaming is going on between these three and only Intra-Circle is stopped and if balance deducts from your main account, you will have the answer.

Actually Airtel’s reply to you via e-mail tells nothing about roaming on partner network. They have used the word national roaming and everyone knows that Airtel don’t charge for data in roaming on their own network. So their reply is indicating towards roaming in other 12 circles where they are holding 3G license. Had you clearly mentioned that you are going to use your Airtel Rajasthan number in UP East where the company is not holding license?

But as I said you check yourself first like I did. I activated Rs.43 pack on Airtel Himachal number which gives 150MB 3G data and they have 3G license in HP like they do for Rajasthan. Used it on Idea 3G network in Haryana where Airtel is a non-licensee and Rs.3.20 deducted from main account for using 317 KB of data i.e @10p/10KB.

Ab Vodafone ka case hi le lo. Unke pass 9 circle mein license hai aur 12 circles mein tie-up tha Airtel/Idea k saath but in 9 circles k customers ko sirf 6 circles mein hi 3G use karna allowed tha Airtel/Idea k network pe aur baki 5 jaha pe nahi allowed tha waha charge laga 10p/10KB. Toh har state k liye bhi Inter-Circle roaming allow nahi hai. Kuch mein tie-up kiya huya hai kuch mein nahi.

Ek hor funda batata hu, Jab Airtel Haryana mein 3G service de raha tha using Idea network Intra-Circle roaming k ban hone se pehle tab bhi Haryana k customers ya toh yahi pe 3G use kar sakte thay using Idea network ya fir baki Airtel k 13 circles mein jaha unke license hai aur baki 7 circles mein allowed nahi tha Idea/Vodafone k network pe. I mean I was able to use 3G on my number in Haryana + 13 circles of Airtel but not in non-licesed areas like Gujarat, Maharshtra, Kolkata etc.

Same way, Idea Mumbai ka customer jaha pe Idea ne Airtel ka network use kiya woh Idea k 10 circles mein toh roaming mein use kar sakta tha but baki 11 mein nahi. Toh Inra circle roaming k users ko limitation thi yeh.

Wait karo May 9 ka, uske baad sab clear ho jega. Agar Intra Circle ban huyi toh bas yeh teeno Inter-Circle agreement hi sign karenge taaki licensed circle k customers ko non-licensed circle mein bhi charge naa lagey partner network pe.

          • SS April 24, 2013 10:14 pm

Yes, I have clearly mentioned about roaming on Idea’s network. Reading your reply, I became more suspicious as they had mentioned only national roaming not specifying clearly.

I will wait till my balance goes down as I don’t want to fire all my balance just like I did it with Vodafone, lost hundreds of rupees and came in negative.

Well, thanks bro, you seem to be a practical person having lot of experience! :-)

    • SS April 24, 2013 2:05 pm

Yes, Saurabh said it correctly, to provide free roaming, you must also service at least 15-20 states in India. If you take your Videocon connection to non-Videocon service states, it will latch on Vodafone, etc and roaming will be more costly than that of AVOID.

  • venkat April 23, 2013 11:34 pm

    Idea will follow it…..!!!

  • ajay April 23, 2013 10:04 pm

in assam a little variation is there….
    1. free roaming betn assam and n.eastern states
    2. rcv cost rs.41 and validty of roaming is of 180 days unlike 30 days.
    3. incoming 30p/min for 1st 30 days & 1.5p/sec for next 150 days . outgoing 1.5p/sec

  • srikapardhi April 23, 2013 6:36 pm

These plans will not beat Aircel’s Free Incoming plan while roaming.
These operators are still charging for incoming , where as Aircel is giving free incoming.

    • Kaushik Roy April 23, 2013 9:59 pm

Best incoming free plan in prepaid is from BSNL
BSNL network way ahead of Aircel

      • Kirti Raj Chahar April 23, 2013 11:25 pm

Yes, one of the best roaming plan in Indain telecom industry by BSNL

        • srikapardhi April 24, 2013 6:36 am

In BSNL also we get roaming free but outgoing are charged at 1.5p/sec, but in Aircel i’m getting roaming free as well I’m being charged 1p/sec for any call in india. awesome isn’t it? but i agree stvs work even in roaming for BSNL. it rocks. But GPRS/3G of bsnl sucks so not mind it using it.

      • Kanaga Deepan N April 24, 2013 6:14 am

I am using this plan for more than a year. BUT recently (mine also changed) they have $crewed up that plan… Now FREE incoming calls in BSNL network and Rs1.00/min (earlier 1.2p/sec) in MTNL network (DELHI and MUMBAI). Also the ougoing calls are now Rs1.00 for roaming Local and Rs1.50 for STD (earlier 1.5p/sec for both)…

Everybody has got right to degrade themselves… But BSNL is abusing that privilege…

  • mukul jain April 23, 2013 4:54 pm

no friends. idea is bst network n fastest 3g service in mpcg. but its too costly.
idea us providing 33rcv for roming circle all ouygoing mob call 1.2p*sec n.ll 1.5p/sec n incoming call 1 rs per minute.
validity only for 90 dats. n airtel rcv 32 rs valid for 180 days
all incoming n outgoing call rate 1.5p/ sec
    incoming 30p/min for 1 month.

  • mukul April 23, 2013 4:50 pm

all telecom co are making fool of us. all call rate in home network n call charges in roming n sms n data charges everything is same. all r fixed.
guys is it possible in open market? there is no cost cutting
    i.e.

  • ANI April 23, 2013 4:16 pm

Only BIG difference, AirHELL is giving 30days validity :-(, Vodafone is giving 180days validity at almost similar cost. ;-)

    • A Mohapatra April 23, 2013 5:49 pm

But the roaming incoming benefits are only for 30 days though in Vodafone although plan benefits are for 180 days.

    • Saurabh April 23, 2013 7:16 pm

There is no difference from Airtel’s plan. Read above again, Vodafone also offering 30p/min incoming tariff for first 30 days and next five months, tariff of 1.5p/s will be applicable for all incoming and outgoing calls which is same as Airtel.

Btw this roaming plan is available on Vodafone Punjab and Haryana from more than 6 months. The pack cost is Rs.42 in Punjab and offering 1.5p/s incoming and outgoing for 180 days. I recharged this on my friend’s number in January. The only difference now is incoming at 30p/min for first 30 days.

Besides this, Airtel Haryana has a plan that costs Rs.179 and offers all incoming free for 180 days which is good for frequent roamers.

Looking at their network presence and service quality, AVoId is cheap and better as with other you do get services for little less but not the network.

  • sujit April 23, 2013 4:14 pm

    i dont know abt idea..
But airtel and vodafone provide the best service as well..

  • S.Sudhakar April 23, 2013 3:34 pm

Not even a single operator is providing home network tariff (like Chennai – Tamilnadu, Kolkata – West Bengal and Mumbai – Maharashtra) in the roaming circle. Slum India. Shame on Indian telecom.

    • SS April 23, 2013 4:50 pm

      BSNL only!

      • S.Sudhakar April 24, 2013 6:57 am

Who told?. ven BSNL is not providing home network tariff while roaming.

See this link (Tamilnadu BSNL) :

    • SS April 23, 2013 2:33 pm

That is why they are called AVOID:-)
