I remember some executive from Vodafone said that they are going to make 3G available in all India. Wondering what’s next for Vodafone

  • arka February 13, 2014 10:24 pm

?#?2GSPECTRUMAUCTION? KOLKATA CIRCLE- 900MHz retained by Airtel India and Vodafone India (7MHz each). 1800MHz grabbed by Airtel India,Relience Jio Infocomm Ltd. and Vodafone India. Airtel and Vodafone will launch 4G (LTE-FDD) services in KOLKATA now. RJIL will launch 2G services as well as 4G (LTE-FDD) services in Kolkata.

So finally its over! I am glad to welcome vodafone 4g in up east and delhi. Also, airtel will launch 4g in delhi very soon after they spectrum. Airtel got 900 mhz spectrum in mumbai after loop mobile didn’t participate in the auctions. Now, its almost sure that there will be no existence of loop mobile after nov 2014.

Uninor will launch its operation in assam but i think it will not opt for LTE but 2G.

As expected tata docomo didn’t bid for any circle.

    Analysing more data…

  • Jayant February 13, 2014 9:55 pm

No new entrant for the rajasthan circle. Only Aircel and Vodafone some amount of spectrum. But the biggest surprise comes from Airtel buying huge amount of spectrum in Rajasthan.

  • Sahil Shah February 13, 2014 9:53 pm

In Gujarat vodafone operated on 900mhz now will they operate on 1800? If yes then their coverage will decrease..

    • SS February 13, 2014 10:06 pm

You are confused! Vodafone’s 2g services and coverage will remain same but will launch 4g services in gujrat on 1800 Mhz

      • Sahil Shah February 14, 2014 12:24 am

Ohk.. I was confused.. Btw I guess voda’s license for 2g gets over in 2015 in gujarat.

    • Kapil February 13, 2014 10:56 pm

Vodafone has purchased an additonal spectrum which they can use for 4g services. Soon airtel and vodafone will provide pan india 4g service. wait for airtel instead of jio… 3years gone but no 4g yet.. and also there will be less coverage… forget jio..

  • Rasool February 13, 2014 9:34 pm

How much Mz did airtel and aircel won in j&k, admin ans. Plz.

    • Arif February 13, 2014 10:42 pm

      in j n k aircel got 1.8mhz and airtel got 2.3mhz

      • Rasool February 13, 2014 10:56 pm

Is it enough for them to launch 4G by them

        • Arif February 13, 2014 11:22 pm

its not enough as they required min 5mhz

          • Ashish February 13, 2014 11:59 pm

It’s enough, 5 mhz is only for new operator not old one so they can. Otherwise why would they bid for 0.6 msg in some circle

            • Arif February 14, 2014 12:34 am

only after 2012 auction the neutral spectrum is available. . n in 2012 auction airtel only bid for assam .. so if airtel wants to provide 4g on 1800mhz in j&k then cnt as then dont hv enough neutral spectrum. .

  • Saurabh February 13, 2014 9:21 pm

In Haryana circle Idea has got 6 MHz in 1800 MHz band i.e a total of 30 blocks and Vodafone has got 12 blocks amounting to 2.4 MHz. Vodafone had got spectrum in 1800 MHz in Nov, 2012 also.

I am more happy now than I would have been if RJio had got license that’s because of Idea will implement LTE on this 1800 MHz and they are the biggest serious player if we look at their 3G roll out here. So good to see Idea getting 6 MHz. :) RJio expected to takeover Videocon from here.

    • anubhav February 13, 2014 10:25 pm

Hi saurabh..in hp its only airtel with huge 10mhz spectrum in 1800 band with there current 6mhz 900 and 5mhz 2100 spectrum. And rjio will not be there in hp.
One thing i would like to ask you that why did vodafone bid only0.6 mhz for punjab, even knowing that they dont have 3g and now wont be able to offer 4g too, coz min req. spectrum is 5mhz. Even if they buy docomo still they wont be able to do so coz the earlier spectrum is not technology neutral. So whats there thinking??

      • gaurav February 14, 2014 7:43 am

Vodafone will launch 4g in big city only.
And 5mhz is neccesary only for new entrant.

        • anubhav February 14, 2014 1:32 pm

5mhz of contigious spectrum is compulsory for rolling out 4g on 1800mhz .

Now i will say what will be the next plan by the spectrum won corporates. They will meet in a 10star hotel & put down the plan. Each one selects their interested service area and discuss how much customers each one will take or add at the respective circle. So each put up with their share and act accordingly. Only increase in tariff is to be expected. If every one in India concentrates only in one operator specifically ‘price fixation’ to a small extents can be avoided.

  • vsk February 13, 2014 9:08 pm

My God Vodafone buy 1800 MHz in kerala …..now Kerala circle is purely in hands of avoid …..DoCoMo is out of competition.. Can expect an increse in call charges and data ..

    • Muhawid P B February 13, 2014 9:41 pm

In kerala 28 mhz is put on auction. Out of this Vodafone took 7.what about other 21?

  • sAm February 13, 2014 9:07 pm

So No Vodafone in WB circle ??

  • sugu February 13, 2014 9:02 pm

That could happen! On Vodafone i am paying 1.5p/s while on BSNL just 1.1p/s B2b and 1.3p/s b20 and i am using mithram planwhich allows me to call 5 numbers @20p/min!!!

  • imahesh February 13, 2014 8:41 pm

Now, ready for call rate Rs. 3/min

  • Akhil Mohan February 13, 2014 8:31 pm

Now Vodafone in Kerala with 4G in 1800 MHz….. That’s a good news.
BTW what will happen to the current 900MHz 2G spectrum?

    • Sugu February 13, 2014 8:56 pm

      But Voda right? They offer 35MB 2G 1 day @Rs.8 while Bsnl offers 100MB Data for 3days @Rs.14(Rs.12 if SMS) … So Vodafone’s 4G will be costly I guess…..

    • Muhawid P B February 13, 2014 9:30 pm

Vodafone said it will offer 4g in 1800 band in mumbai, delhi, kolkata, karnataka and kerala because it had won more than 5mhz in these circles. To offer 4g at least 5mhz is needed.

Vodafone cannot use its existing 900 mhz in kerala for 3g or 4g because that is old spectrum and it is not technologically neutral. So they will continue to provide 2g in 900 band.

  • sandeep February 13, 2014 8:28 pm

happy TO SEE voda get in ap
