      Hi Shekh,

As per court directions we cannot extend new 3G connections to area where Vodafone does not have 3G spectrum. We’ll update you through suitable media about the same. We regret the inconvenience caused. Further, G is the next generation technology for data and we will definitely be interested to provide 4G services as and when we get the spectrum. Globally, Vodafone is one of the leaders in 4G services which were launched in Europe recently. We are a long-term player and will invest in 4G in India. Thanks for getting in touch with us.

      Regards,
      Vodafone.

Vodafone provides full speed 24/7

  • Saurabh February 28, 2014 10:21 am

Vodafone updated their website 27 days ago with same and in Haryana circle all major towns are covered by Voda but still less coverage than Idea and more than BSNL which is also in the race of expansion and expected to cover all major town in next 3 months. I have heard from a BSNL employee that they are targeting 65% coverage by June 2014 and 85% by year end which I doubt looking at the General election and change of Govt at center. DoT and BSNL will see a reshuffle after that :P

Even though I don’t know much about politics because of my young age.But still after reading several reports I can now understand who is at fault here. The original tax demand was for 7k but the government is now demanding 20k because of interests, depriciation etc.On one hand the government promoted stuffs like FDI etc but on the other hand they are penalising forieng companies like vodafone who have already invested.I think nothing is gonna happen,Vodafone would once again move to the court if a tax demand is served and the case would go on for years by the time of which two elections would have been over in the next 7 or 8 years.:p.

  • BIBHAS KAR February 27, 2014 9:40 am

Vodafone 3G has a problem, You can’t browse from main a/c balance without any 3G data pack.
Even If you want to make Video Call, You also need to have Vodafone 3G data pack.

Vodafone India SUCKS, use Airtel 3G, it provides 100Mb @ Rs.9/- Paper Recharge only. (West Bengal)
    that’s mean 100 x 10=1000 MB (approx 1GB) @ 9 x 10= 90.

    • prasad mayya February 27, 2014 6:08 pm

wonder what’ll happen to the nature of Bengal?

these advancement in technology is affecting the human health, the nature, the small birds which are subjected to extinction eg. sparrows. the degeneration of coconuts and well the list is endless.

At times staying away from technology does help you get close to nature. helps you find your peace of mind.

Don’t know what will these advancements lead to.

As a telecom enthusiast, I would be delighted with Vodafone’s hard work for telecom supremacy but then at times I feel too much of 3G and 4G and the upgradations which come along will come at a heavy price! A price which will be just too much for the humans to bear.

  • Arif February 26, 2014 11:10 pm

yaya just visited to siuri birbhum n saw Vodafone 3G is there. . bt earlier on 2009 only bsnl 3g is available there in 2013 airtel launch their 3G service now in 2014 Vodafone done it .. waiting for Reliance ,though I live in kolkata often go there…

    MAIN THING
    VODAFONE 3G SPEED IS 12Mbps
    IDEA 3G SPEED IS 9Mbps
    BSNL 3G SPEED IS 4Mbps
    AIRTEL(ROAM) SPEED IS 7Mbps

Still there are no Vodafone 3g coverage in many cities in West Bengal, where BSNL, Airtel and Reliance have 3G.

    • Rhishav (Kolkata) February 26, 2014 7:46 pm

Yes I agree with you. 3G coverage in Rest of Bengal circle is not good. but they are improving. their 2G is still good as per my experience.

  • Idea888 February 26, 2014 5:09 pm

Airtel increased Tariff- in Mumbai RC voucher Rs.106 call rate increased by 33.33% to 40 paise and in Delhi per second to 2 paise now. @esmsil should article of this on telecomtalk.

  • SS February 26, 2014 5:03 pm

Their 3G services and coverage are also improving in UP E as i see many places have been covered in recent months. For delhi, airtel 3G has good coverage but i see more speeds in Vodafone 3G.

  • Ranajit February 26, 2014 3:21 pm

Vodafone 3G, 2G & voice call are all The Best & Most Reliable in Kolkata & West Bengal.
The most unreliable service is of Reliance GSM.

  • Sayan Chattopadhyay February 26, 2014 3:18 pm

in wb Airtel 3G is far better than Vodafone 3G. Airtel 3G has much better coverage and QoS.
And in 2G both are equal.
So, don’t know why people are taking this British and bullish Vodafone.
    I just hate this operator.

    • aman February 26, 2014 9:42 pm

agree with you friend… these companies like vodafone and uninor are draining out our money to their nation all because of some mindless customers.

      • SS February 26, 2014 10:09 pm

I am a customer of both Telenor and Vodafone and additionally of Idea, Airtel, BSNL. Let me confirm you that we aren’t “mindless” as far as i think. These companies invest billions of dollars in our country so making profits is their right i think. I am glad that Airtel, an Indian company provides such QoS but Vodafone isn’t any less. At the end of the day we think on who provides better services and if desh bakhti thought troubles you then do some research how much these companies are important for our economy.

Also, using LG, Whirlpool Washing Machine, Nokia Samsung phones, foreign brand perfumes. I don’t think you avoid them. You must be using at least one of them. Right???? Think on it!

        • Srikapardhi February 26, 2014 10:53 pm

you are right (y), after all Qos matters in the end.

        • DUANE February 26, 2014 10:56 pm

@ SS Well Said … its said to see so many ignorant statements about using only “Indian” companies .. whoever has invested in INDIA has done so with the blessings of the Indian Government, and we *should* patronise the best service (we can afford).

      • Rama February 26, 2014 11:32 pm

        @SS
+1.Plus lets not forget how desperately the Indian government is trying to suck money from vodafone by changing the entir tax law itself. So its the government who is being bullish and not Vodafone.Plus think about those thousands of vodafone store executives and call centre executives who are now employed only and only because of vodafone. All those call centre guys/gals and vodafone store guys/gals are Indian and Europeans.

        • SS February 27, 2014 11:01 am

          @Rama
There is no limit to describe how dishonest and corrupt this UPA 2 government is. When don’t have any laws to tax oversea transactions then how can you tax Vodafone with this huge amount? Supreme court said the same and you changed laws. Is this a way? This is completely a breach of trust for a MNC.

Now, Vodafone has decided to raise this matter internationally and it will be shameful to see our country being dragged to international court for extracting money illegally from a british company.

Thankfully, this nightmare is going to end soon in May and we may see a more corporate friendly government soon if everything goes fine.

      • mojo February 27, 2014 10:44 am

babuji..there is nearly 30 pc stake of singtel(singapore company) in airtel..In a globalized economy we can’t say its indian or foreign…

      • Shaunak Basu March 24, 2014 10:32 pm

Unfortunately for the ‘patriotic’ and ‘with – mind’ people like you the QOS of most Indian products are pathetic.
And thanks to ‘mindless’ people like us – they are being forced to improve…
Its time you kept these so called ‘patriotic’ bs to yourself…. There are much better ways to show how much you care for the country than going after the MNCs who provide us good service…

  • Sayantan(Kolkata) February 26, 2014 2:17 pm

Airtel’s 3G was far better than Vodafone’s when it was using Vodafone’s network to provide 3G.Also 2G coverage wise Airtel’s coverage is far far better than Vodafone’s.Also Airtel provides cell info display feature and free missed call alert which I love very much.I just love Airtel.Airtel rocks in Kolkata and in rest of Bengal.

    • Rhishav (Kolkata) February 26, 2014 7:50 pm

Can’t fully agree with you. Vodafone has one of the best coverage in Kolkata. Same as airtel. The positive part is they have 3G which is again awesome. But the cell info display and free missed call alert is a bonus from airtel which makes it more attractive. i wish they had 3G. Then it would have been the winner.

      • Shivam February 26, 2014 11:18 pm

Could you please let me does Vodafone & IDEA also provide CELL INFO DISPLAY on its network ? As i have seen only Airtel & BSNL does provide till date.
I am big fan of Airtel but from UP west circle, but here Vodafone 2G is much better then any other operator.

        • SS February 27, 2014 11:03 am

Na, not here in UPE. Idea does provide but rarely. Most of the time stupid ads.

    • Shivam February 26, 2014 11:38 pm

I am also a big fan of Airtel but here in UP west it operates on 1800mhz, due to which network is patchy in interiors & in hilly areas of Uttrakhand, but Vodafone is gaining strength in comparison to IDEA which is the leader is UP.
Does Vodafone & IDEA also provide CELL INFO DISPLAY ?

  • vikas February 26, 2014 2:09 pm

vodafone 3g is worst in delhi circle , even the nodal officers cant do anything about it.

  • Abhijan Pal February 26, 2014 1:29 pm

I think Airtel coverage is better than Vodafone in kolkata and west bengal. Airtel 3G is better in west bengal compare to vodafone. Only drawback is Airtel doesn’t have 3G services in kolkata circle. Hope after June auction Airtel will purchase the 3G spectrum and start 3G service in kolkata soon.

    • Shiv February 26, 2014 2:06 pm

I think you are right when you say Airtel is better in Kolkata. As far as 3G is concerned, I have personally used 3G of Airtel in Kolkata, which gives consistently more than 7-8 mbps. I keep on travelling to Kolkata/ Various parts of India, and this observations is based on my experience.

However post these updations/ additions in their towers their coverage would surely improve. Also since both of them operate on 900 MHz, difference is not much.

  • Rhishav (Kolkata) February 26, 2014 12:25 pm

Yes they have the best 3G network in Kolkata but in ROB circle it is not the best as per my experience. But in Kolkata it is just awesome.

  • Rama February 26, 2014 12:23 pm

Vodafone’s internet both 2G as well as 3G is the best.Over here in TN some problem has occured in airtel’s 2G internet atleast for me,so the next obvious choice for internt was vodafone, aircel is too slow and idea has poor coverage, its better if I dont talk abt docomo.

    • raj February 26, 2014 3:18 pm

i am a postpaid user(chennai circle) monthly bill- 475+..using Vodafone 2g…its far far better than airtel 3g on smartphone…i agree airtel has seemless coverage..compared to vodafone in which the network(2G) drops in some places of city …but regarding data..i am very satisfied with vodafone…AIRTEL 3G is waste…and worthless of its cost.

      • Rama February 26, 2014 4:36 pm

        @raj
100% true.Even I have experienced the same.Although vodafone’s coverage is not as good as airtel.Like airtel at all places gives full signal in the city but in the case of vodafone some places in chennai have full coverage and in some places the signal is like 2 bars or something but every place has been covered by vodafone almost. Its just that signal strength of vodafone is not as good as airtel but every place has been covered. You’re right airtel 3G is very worse is chennai.Speeds never go above 2mbps on airtel 3G whereas on vodafone I have experienced 3G speeds of as much as 7 mbps.Airtel 2G was good but recently a certain bug made it bad.Speeds on airtel 2G are now fluctuating a lot, sometimes it goes down to as low as 2kbps and sometimes its 25 kbps.Web pages are also not being loaded properly on airtel 2G,for example the TT page is around 160 Kb on my nokia x2 but on airtel 2G the loading happens only till 80kb and the rest 80kb is not being loaded.I ported out from airtel to vodafone and the 2G speed is always above 20kbps irrespective of day or night and web pages also load fully on vodafone 2G.I dont know how airtel has become soo baad, earlier airtel 2G was very good but now I dont know how it became soo baad like almost over night.

        • Kaushik Roy February 27, 2014 4:51 pm

thats the difference between 900 Mhz and 1800 Mhz
airtel and aircel operates in 900 Mhz in Chennai and Vodafone in 1800 Mhz
thats why vodafone coverage is weaker than airtel specially indoor coverage
In majority circles 900 Mhz holders has edge over 1800 Mhz holders

          • prasad mayya February 27, 2014 6:02 pm

airtel installed 3g in my area…. i am getting 1 bar …. i am just 1km from tower… but when i inserted sim into datacard,i get full signal… checked with nokia, samsung, celkon … result is same … i got max 7mbps on data card …..

          • Rama February 27, 2014 9:30 pm

            @kaushik
            +1
I know that its because of the band. But still despite being on the 1800 mhz band vodafone has not compromised coverage as such. Its just that signal strength of vodafone varies from place to place, but that doesnt bother me much because of irrespective of strong or weak signal, voice clarity is superb and data speeds are also awesome. What else do i want.
