Kiya rooming me internet free work karta

Videocon has tie-up with Tata Docomo in Haryana under 2G Intra Circle roaming agreement for GSM coverage. Now we are able to select TD network (IND 031 or 405 031) on our Videocon number from June 20, 2013 wherever TD-GSM is available. Videocon had used TD network in past (2011) but after few months it was stopped. But now it starts again. Currently, Videocon customers can use VOICE service only after latching on Tata GSM and not DATA service. I contacted Videocon CC today and they have said that, you will be able to use data services too within next one week or so.

Videocon coverage in and around my area is too weak while Tata Docomo has better coverage allover in our town at -75dBm. So, at-least coverage problem is solved now with this ICR but once we able to use data services, I will shift to it. Tata’s 2G speed in my area is 200-250Kbps, so there will be no problem with that but lets see whether 40 mins disconnection problem of TD also affect Videocon users or not. lol

Yaar ab toh t24 mein bhi gprs pack mehenge ho gaye. 96 mein 6gb mil raha thaa ab 1gb ho gaya. Ab Tata/Virgin/T24 k 2g pack identical hai but AVoId cartal se abhi bhi zyada data hai. woh toh 600-650mb dete hai. toh ab bas videocon sabse sasta hai is time 1.5gb in 96. last week hi sim liya maine. filhaal 22 wala pack use kar raha hu jisme 500mb hai for 8 days toh 2gb ho jayega in rs.88 only 32 din k liye but baar baar activate karana padta hai. pehle yeh ussd se activate nahi hota thaa ab aa gaya option toh easy ho gaya hai. par yaar videocon ko kaho ki apni network coverage theek karey. bahot jagah pe toh signal hi nahi aata.

    • Saurabh March 23, 2013 12:08 pm

Ryt said. T24 packs are also revised but Virgin is still giving 4GB in 96 and 1.5GB in 61 for 28 days. They haven’t revised packs in Haryana which is the only circle left.

btw Videocon’s USSD Menu on *123# isn’t working since morning. It says, “No Corresponding Menu” Maybe company is adding new packs to the menu. They also added new recharges and updated info on their recharge site yesterday. As far as coverage is concerned, company has said that they will add around 850 more cell sites in Haryana to expand its footprints and to provide better coverage to the consumers. But it will take time.

Only incoming calls are made free. Still roaming charges are being levied. Home network tariffs and booster packs are not applicable. What?. Rs.3.45 for outgoing all India SMS in roaming?. Waste.

    • Saurabh March 22, 2013 10:12 am

I checked SMS from roaming circle (Haryana SIM in Punjab) and got charged only Re. 1 for local and Rs. 1.50 STD which is same as home circle. I didn’t had any sms pack active but the charging clarifies that SMS pack will be applicable in roaming circle also otherwise I got have charged Rs. 3.45. Also they don’t charge for using Internet on their own network in roaming as mentioned here. This 10p/10KB charge is for roaming on partner network. But voice packs aren’t applicable as I got charged Rs.1.50 for calling back to Haryana.

      • S.Sudhakar March 22, 2013 11:11 am

Anyway home network tariff (any booster pack for SMS, voice and data – if enabled) is not applicable during roaming. Waste.

Not only videocon, even aircel is charging different tariff and all other operators will charge more when roaming making onling incoming call as free. Waste policy.

good move from videocon… is not a matter how many circles it operated providing good services to its current circle is more important

  • SS March 21, 2013 4:48 pm

What’s the use of that! Videocon has license in very less circles, so probably your phone will latch on partner’s network and you would be charged hectic!

    Ambala, Haryana

That’s true. I too got the SMS from Videocon regarding the same. A very good step by the company to lure more customers. Though services are limited to 7 circles only but still good as me and most of my friends and relatives often roam into Punjab especially Chandigarh. Now I will ask them to either port into or buy Videocon SIM. Haryana and Punjab are neighboring states and people from both states are frequent roamers. BSNL do provide free roaming to Haryana customers but only limited to Chandigarh. Though Chandigarh is also capital city of Haryana but most of the operators charge for roaming in Chandigarh-Panchkula-Mohali as it falls under Punjab circle. I hope this move by Videocon will also make others think. In future it will help users of UP (East) and UP (West) will get benefited.

But the biggest concern is Videocon’s network presence which is still not very good. Yesterday I posted about non-seriousness shown by Videocon to tap the market in their 4 circles they are operating in, as they have priced voice and data tariffs almost near to the established ones but not too much near. Their data packs are offering ~ 3X data as compared to others. So, they need to re-think their strategy as customers will not come due to average network.

Their website is still not updated with new offerings except for Punjab and still showing circles where services are stopped. If I select Haryana circle, it shows Gujarat. Same happens while selecting MP_Chattisgarh.

Beside all this, company should make changes at management levels and look out for those having expertise in telecom field. I hope they become a serious player in the market as they are the only one in my circle to give competition to other players.

Current GPRS Packs for Haryana circle:

    1. Rs.5 75MB 2 Days
    2. Rs.13 300MB 4 Days
    3. Rs.22 500MB 8 Days
    4. Rs.58 800MB 29 Days
    5. Rs.96 1.5GB 29 Days
    6. Rs.109 2GB 57 Days
    7. Rs.251 5GB 85 Days

The validity doesn’t include date of activation. So 1 day extra in all packs. Speed is good in areas where signal strength is good but not at my place. Also, after 10 in morning, it takes 25-30 tries to get connected though there is no disconnection issue. :)

To know tariffs for your circle you can visit Enter your number and hit recharge followed by special recharge to know voice/sms/data tariffs.

P.S: Videocon has tie-up with other players in their non-licensed circles so that customers continue to get network. Currently I know about Himachal where my number latched on Vodafone’s network.

But what’s the use yar as videocon is available only to 6 circle out of 22 and that to having only 4 active circle so if a person go on roaming out of these 6 circle he/she will have have to pay roaming charge….due to being on other operator network..

    • DB March 21, 2013 2:27 pm

Why are you negative yar … BE POSITIVE. THIS IS JUST THE START

      >> what’s the use yar as videocon is available only to 6 circle out of 22

    • Jay March 21, 2013 2:39 pm

And even in those circles, there are high chances for the mobile phones to get latched to some other operator, where Videocon doesn’t have coverage, and customers will end up being charged…

Anyways a good gesture from Videocon, I hope all other operators will follow suit, atleast in making Incoming free as a first step. Only later we can even think of Home chargers (Rate cutters) being completely applicable in Roaming as well !!
